Not really. I know Cake Central mag is expensive...I bypassed it but bought two copies at CountryKitchen Sweet Art and died....this is a PRIMO magazine. I am so thoroughly impressed with it I could kick myself in the arse for not getting it in the beginning. Save your money and get it. I get the Ices magazine for members and also American Cake decorating too. Trust me when I say that Cake Centrals magazine is a million times better than any of the others.

American Cake Decorating and Mail Box News are both good magazines, as well. You can look them up online to subscribe. I agree with CakeRN, too. I bypassed Cake Central Mag because of the price, then saw the actual magazine at a friends. I went home and promptly went online to subscribe.

I've submitted some things to ACD for their upcoming issues. The old editor really stunk, but they're updating the format and they have a new editor who's taking it in a better direction. They've gotten rid of a lot of the stupid super-basic projects and the quality of the tutorials and photos have gotten better. I noticed a difference a few issues ago, and that's when the new editor started. If you haven't seen the last couple of issues it would be worth finding a copy to check it out. They're also going to be revamping the website in the near future.
I don't get Mailbox news, but they had changed the format around a while ago, so I don't know if it's any better than it was a few years ago.

Now they are trying to pull things back together, not sure if it will make it due to the amount of damage they did. But ACD and CC are two completely different styles and the quality is totally different as well.
Maybe some of you saw my previous post about ACD. I didn't renew with them due to delivery issues. Then about two years later they decided to automatically renew[i] my obsolete subscription and charged my credit card without permission! That,in my book, is a BIG "NO, NO!" 
IHMO no other magazine compares to the quality of print or content of CC's magazine. I'm glad I subscribed from the beginning.[/b]

I have to disagree about the editor...I thought that the old ACD format was way too beginner-oriented, and the articles were fairly useless. I had written to the editor with some suggestions several times and got no response at all The last few issues of ACD have been much better, so that's why I wrote asking if they wanted some photos/articles. The new editor is much mroe responsive and is actively looking for good content that's a higher skill level than piping animals in buttercream on a birthday cake. CC magazine to me hasn't had much content that I found that interesting. The newest issue got a quick once-over, and none of the articles weren't that useful. I like the British magazines the best, they have the most tutorials and actual useful information about cakes, not about the history of tattoos.
i have been a faithful subscriber to acd and mbn for the last 15 yrs. i finally 2 weeks ago, ask for my money back on my subscription. i got tired of begging for my magazines. there is no longer mbn according to my e-mail from them they transferred my mbn balance to acd. So i just asked them to refund my money . i have been having to beg for my 2 magazines for the last year. No more, i told them. I don,t think they will be around much longer. I hated they changed so much. NEVER had a problem until the change. I told them so. They know they haven,t done people right for a while. I read on this site of the new subscribers that never have gotten their subscription and they never will. It has been 6 months for some. I use to take up for them on this site. But no more. something bad is wrong there. I know they have lost a lot of customers and now it includes me. The magazine is so thin. Its enough to make you laugh when you receive it. I am so glad i am out of it. I would literally have to e-mail for every magazine for the last year. When i did, then that is when i would get it. With an apology of course. Got tired of that. I feel free . lol. The ones from England are the BEST.Been getting them for 15 yrs. also. NEVER ,NEVER, had a problem with them. Get them on time every month. It is worth every penny.hth

The delivery complaints are coming for CC magazine too, though. Everyone blames the post office.
I didn't know about no more MBN, but that one really stunk anyway.
I don't have trouble with the British magazines' delivery either, maybe the British mail service is better than the US one 
I know that CC magazine is a little expensive but I love it. I order mine each month through Icing Images and it is at my doorstep within 5 days of ordering. 
I love the magazine and it's worth every penny that I spend on it. I received the July issue the other day and haven't even opened it yet because I haven't had the time to look at it or read it without any interruptions. LOL Maybe I'll get around to doing that tonight. I was off work today and my house work is all done so maybe I can slip away later and check out my new magazine. 
CC is probably one of the best magazines out there right now,
I wasn't too impressed with the first magazine, but the issues are better and better.
Price aside, I would recommend it to anyone.

Well here is my point of view. I am not a fan of the Cake Central mag. For me I feel I can look at cake pictures online. I was hoping it would be an instructive magazines. I want tutorials. I have almost every Mailbox News magazines ever printed. It started back in the 50's. It use to be so good. I love it because it focused on buttercream. When the original editor retired and sold it and it was sold a couple of times after that it was never the same. I love to sit and look ar my old copies. Since the new editor took over I do not like it anymore. I have always gotten my magazines. I do like Cake Craft magazine. I only do buttercream with fondant and gumpaste accents but at least it is full of tutorials. Everything now is fondant based at that leaves us buttercream fans out. Just my two cents worth.
