Hey everyone, I've never made a banana cake before and I'm wondering what will be the best icing and filling to go with it? I found the recipe for the banana cake by Suebee, and it looks like a hit, but not sure on the icing.
I have done a banana cake with bavarian cream filling and cream cheese icing as well as filled and iced with chocolate ganache, both were fabulous.
Ooo that sounds really good! What do you flavour your filling with? Just vanilla? I never made it before.
you can buy bavarian cream filling in the sleeve already made. Otherwise I would just look up a basic custard recipe, that's pretty much what it is.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE chocolate and banana together........also peanut butter goes well with it too, take your regular bc recipe and put half bc and half peanut butter for a fabulous filling.
I ice and fill banana cake with chocolate buttercream. If no one has any allergies or objections, I cover the sides of the cake with chopped, toasted pecans. It is reminiscent of the frozen, chocolate-covered bananas we ate as children
I can buy it pre-made?? At the grocery store with the other icings? Or some where else?
Haha, I love the idea of PB. Reminds me of PB and banana sandwiches.
I personally love either chocolate or caramel. I just made a banana cake for my own birthday!
I just made a banana chocolate chip cake a while ago and tried Italian Meringue Buttercream with it. I just wanted to try making IMBC to be honest, but it turned out soo yummy. It reminded me of gourmet banana bread or something because of the buttery flavor of IMBC.
I just did a banana cake with vanilla pudding as a filling and coconut flavored frosting. I was delicious.
