I watched it. I don't know that I could ever but smoked salmon in a cupcake, the maple bacon might not be bad.
My only problem with amy of the competition shows is the drama. I know they have to make it exciting for televsion, but why is there always a crisis and a time crunch.
I though it was good though and will be watching the next episode Tuesday.

I watched it last night... agree about the salmon. No matter if she wanted to do the "dangerous".. I just can't imagine that tasting right...

I watched it but was so distracted trying to figure out where I've seen that assistant (Maureen/ "Mo") for the lady who won that I missed half the show! LOL! I'll go back and watch it later as I figured out she's an actress I saw on 7th Heaven when it was on. Strange to see her doing cupcakes now.

I watched it as well. I enjoyed it, but wondered why that one woman baked such mundane cupcakes for the second round. It was so clear the others were making over the top flavors; you would think she would have made one unique one. I felt bad for her...I am sure her self-esteem took a dip.

I agree, I like Chopped a lot better myself. Part of that is I like Ted Allen and think he makes a really good host. The host on Cupcake Wars really did nothing but yell about how much time is left and make stupid jokes. Ugh.

Was it just me, or was the French judge a little hard to understand?

If you'd like to read more comments about the show, there's a similar thread with the same title in the lounge forum.

It bothered me to see how many times they played with their hair, parted it, pushed behind their ears... just couldn't stop touching their hair, face, forehead, eyes, etc.

Your right, the assistant looked familar to me too. The women who won was definitely the best. I like the other contestant's arrangement of her cupcakes better though. Overall I liked the show.

I agree about how much they touched their hair and face. Has any one heard of a hairclip! I could just imagine small hair strands and skin flakes falling into the cupcakes! So gross! Sorry little rant.

Otherwise loved the show. my favorite round was where they had to incorporate sweet and savory ingredients. I always wonder what i would choose if in that situation. Would i play it safe or take a risk? I'll definetely catch it on tuesday.

KristineHolm, Those cupcakes look sooo amazing. Do you ever have a problem with maple buttercream being too sweet? Somestimes that is a problem for me.

thank you so much. i have really gotten into cupcakes lately. posting a bunch of pics right now. never thought to post them before i guess.

I used the maple extract for the flavoring and it was so yummy. the downside was i smelled like maple for a couple days... then again, thats not such a bad thing icon_smile.gif

Yummy is right! I do a similar cupcake, though I fill the cupcake with maple buttercream & crumbled bacon, and put some larger pieces of bacon on top. Yeah, people are like icon_confused.gif at first but it doesn't take long to convert them.

To cut the cloying sweetness of the maple buttercream I.... I.... icon_redface.gif *whispers* I add a little Bacon Salt to it. Even if it's not for the maple-bacon cuppies. It's really good. I promise.

Ren715: Is the actual name of the show Private Chefs of Beverly Hills? Did a search and couldn't find the show.
