So I'm trying to create this mother-to-be (see pic) and I thought I had it all figured out... UGH. I made the torso and then put the straight leg on heavy wire and then was going to use that as support for the torso. Turns out the torso wants to slide down the wire and it crushed the leg... How can I make this work? anyone?
(ps. using gumpaste)

Honey, I'm 55, and my torso has been falling for a few years now.

Just a guess:
The leg shoud be dry.I suposse you left a piece of the wire showing at the top.
Make the torso , indent a hole with a piece of wire or wood (the same gauge as the wire) at the bottom and let it dry (or almost set).
Insert the torso over the piece of wire in the leg.
It shouldn't slide then.

And the torso as well or almost dry at least so it won't slip down.

yep , leave about half an inch of wire out at the top of the leg, and leave the leg to fully dry , there should be no give in the leg gumpaste or it will crush under the weight of the torso.
Then allow the torso to semi dry , making sure you have made a small hole for the insertion of the wire.
Then attach.

I made a full set of gabba figures, and found this out the hardway after the first set i made ended up looking like stumpy figures.

I would leave a good couple of inches of wire exposed above the top of the leg. Then wind it into a loose horizontal coil, like the coil of an electric stove top burner. The torso can set on this. Take some pieces of gumpaste, dab with sugar glue, push them up onto the underside of the coil so they smoosh trough, sticking to both the coil and the torso.

This way the torso is supported by the wire, and is not putting weight on the leg.
