I am learning to make sugarpaste figures and I am having a hard time with the edible glue that I am currently using. It won't hold my pieces together. I am using 1/4 tsp of tylose powder to 2 TB of hot water. Does anyone have another recipe for edible glue that is strong enough to hold my pieces together? I would be forever grateful.

Thanks
It's my party

I drop a chunk of gumpaste into some water and stir to dissolve it. Comes out nice and thick and is very strong.

I use gumpaste mix with a little water. It makes a terrific glue.

Do you have to let this mixture set up overnight like I do the glue recipe I currently use?

no, it is good to use as soon as you make it. Store it in refrigerator forever.

One last question, how much water and gumpaste do you use and should the water be hot to make the gumpaste dissolve that quickly?

I never make it the same way twice. I just put some of the dry gumpaste mix in a small bowl, add a little water and stir. I like mine to be the consistency of syrup but you can make it thicker or thinner depending on your needs. You can't do it wrong because it is sticky no matter how you make it. You can use it immediately.

I was taught to use a mixture of hot water and Gum Arabic Powder. I cant recall the ratio off hand but Im sure you could google it. Once you mix it it can be saved and reused. It does not have to be warm to use it. Just to mix it when you make it.
