I stopped by Michael's today and noticed that they had the Cricut Cake at a "New Low Price!" of $279. Also, it looked like some of the cartridges were "reduced" to $50-ish. Not sure if that is a savings on the cartridges, though, since I don't own a Cricut of any sort.

Just thought I'd pass along the info... icon_smile.gif

Wow, thanks, they must be trying to compete with JoAnn, I just got their circular advertising the Cr Cake for $299.

Weird - yeah they must not have been selling as they expected - but with a $100 difference among stores - DUH!

Interesting that the price is dropping so. I'm actually hoping that the story of the Cake's development is getting around the caking community. Supporting ProvoCraft is not high on my list, especially when there are other machines, if you want one, that will accomplish the cutting.

In the spirit of full disclosure, i do own an Expressions, purchased before the story was widely known.

Hi,

I was at Michaels today. I bought the CC for 349.00 on Monday (5/3), then I find out the price went down to 279.00. I asked if I could get a price adjustment without bringing the unit back, since I had the reciept with me. They said yes, so I saved another 50.00. They told me they dropped the price because they were competing with Costco. I mentioned that JoAnns was getting it on Saturday, they didn't know about that. The manager said, she was going to check that out.

You can't use the coupon on the machines or the cartridges, FYI. But you can use them on the other Cricut Cake items like the frosting sheets and tool kit.

I'm on the fence when it comes to the cutting machines like Cricut Cake. It looks neat and it'd be great to own one, but even at the lower price I'm not ready to run grab one just yet. I think it'd be one of those things I'd use once or twice for novelty, then promptly forget about it. icon_redface.gif

I was told from the workers at M's that you can't use coupons for anything with the name Cricut.

It says right on the coupon that it excludes ALL Cricut products.

I"ll have to check my Michaels today and see if they have it at that low price. I was just there last night for my cake class and didn't notice a lower price. I honestly didn't look at the display. If it's that low, then I'm definitely going to get one.

But seeing how there is not a Costco in my area, it may not be reduced. icon_cry.gif

Yeah, I missed that, too. I'm jonesin' for a cricut but if there is a reason I should think twice and/or look at a different machine please tell. Thanks!

It's $299 shipped from costco . com maybe they'll match that or are adjusting their pricing nationwide?

I just went to the Michaels in my area. We do not have Costco. I told them that other Michaels were offering it at $279 to compete with Costco. The lady really worked hard to get me that price. She called the manager who said that yeah he had heard that, but if the computer didn't ring it up at the price then they couldn't do anything. It didn't so I didn't buy one.

To get one from Costco you have to be a member, which I am not. At this point I'll just wait again. But I do know when I do go to buy, it won't be at Michaels.

I'm still waiting for the story for the reason not to buy one. I really am not interested in one, after hearing all the BAD reviews... maybe thats why the price is dropping, because it does not do well what it is intended for.....

Hmmm...sorry for any "misinformation." I just figured that Michaels was a chain and would have the same prices at all their stores. Weird.

Ok, so the Michaels in Vernon Hills, IL has the Cricut Cake at $279. Of course, knowing my luck, it was a mistake and they've fixed it by now. icon_smile.gif

I got an email last night from Michaels. The Cricut is 297.99 for a limited time (May 15) and only in limited select stores. My guess it is those stores where there is a Costco. They don't tell you how to find out if your store is one of the limited stores. thumbsdown.gif

If you live in an area that has a Costco, then why would you go to Michaels to get the Cricut - to save $2? Of course, I'm assuming that we are all members of one of these type of store no matter what kind it is. I guess the great marketing geniuses at Michaels know something I don't. icon_wink.gif

After going to Michaels yesterday and getting no where, I went to another one in my town and they had the Cricut Cake there for $297.00....so I caved and bought one. icon_lol.gif

I was not planning on getting to it in a while. But my DD just came home from college and she was with me when I bought it. She is a CS major. aI told her there was software that you can buy to create your own images, and that was all she needed to hear. She has a friend coming over tomorrow and they intend on pulling the thing out, buying some of the already made sheets and playing with the machine. I, on the other hand, will probably not get to it for a while, a long while. Long enough for her to get to know how to use it so well that I can get her to show me. icon_wink.gif

And I broke my vow to not buy it from Michaels, oh well.
