HI! I was in my local Michael's this weekend & saw Duff's line of Fondant. Quite a few choices - but seems to be a bit $$. Has anyone gotten a chance to use it? Would love to know which flavor & how it tastes/works.

I'm a hobby baker - know Wilton tastes yucky & Satin Ice is not available locally for quick needs - would be nice to have another option! Wish they made a smaller "sampler" pack size to give it a try!

Yes it is made by Satin Fine Foods , the maker of Satin Ice . Since Satin Ice is what Duff uses in his shop I would say it is the same.

I think the Duff branding was a way to bring Satin Ice into the hobby market and sell it at Michaels, but I think it is more expensive . I can't get Satin Ice locally and I havent wanted to pay the shipping just so I could try it , maybe I will use a michaels coupon to try the Duffs and if I like it I would probably order it somewhere cheaper.

Yeah....I saw the poster as I walked into the store when I went to get my foam core boards for .99!!!!! Maybe I'll try it since I got a 40% off coupon.

I don't use anything but Fondarific. The label on it says Candy Craft Creations LLC Savannah, GA. It taste much better than satin ice and is easier to work with and can be rolled much thinner. It has more elasticity and you don't get the elephant skin. If it gets too hard you can pop it in the microwave. It has a year shelf life and can be frozen. When I compensated for the fact I use less becaue I can roll it thinner it comes out about the same price as Satin Ice. I haven't tried Duff's brand.

Thanks for the clarification, I also hadn't seen that thread and had been told by a friend of mine that works at Michaels as their WMI that the packaging on the fondant that was going to be sold there was made by Satin Fine Foods.

So now I know it is actually Fondarific!

I usually use Satin Ice and lately the product seems to have some challenges and I have thought about trying Fondarific, but the price difference is huge - $15 for 5lbs for Satin Ice and $32 for Fondarific. Is it really worth the extra $$$.

I think so...I use far less fondarific than Satin Ice and I personally like the flavor way more. The "stretchability" far exceeds anything I have ever tried. I use nothing but fondarific. I even use it for my "gumpaste" stuff I just add some tylose powder. I am a novice an fondarific is very user friendly.

I just bought some Duff red for a cake I am making this weekend for a friend. It is more expensive then Satin Ice but with my 40% off coupon it was a couple dollars cheaper. I have to say, it smells great. When I opened it my hubby thought I had bought icing it smelled so good. I hope it tastes as good as it smells.
