I know this topic has come up a zillion times, but I really need some help on how to do a 3D deer head. I have seen several in galleries, pm'd the creator but no response. I want to do it like it is mounted and I want to do the head out of rice krispie treats. I am just worried about the support system and antlers. How to do antlers and stick them in securely. Any help is much appreciated.

Ok. I did not write these instructions but Connie Adams did. She made this cake and I asked for help and this is what she sent me about a year ago and I still had it saved so I am passing it along. Hope this helps you out.
Her member name is boween.

Do a few days in advance

Form antlers out of thin wire two sides join at the
bottom leaving a point to stick into the head.
Cover them with wrinkled aluminum foil.
Cover with a light tan colored fondant, hang to dry.

Form ears, cutting an oval out of gumpaste, fondant
mix, I do 50% each. gather at the end to form a oval
shape, stick a toothpick into the end to have
something to stick into the head.
Let dry fore a few days.
I hand painted my ears with white mixed with vodka,
and brown gel colors mixed with vodka

Make a batch of rice krispys, form the head while they
are still warm, put on a rack to dry.

Bake a cake in the wonder mold and trim to make it a
bit more narrow.

put head on top, dowel clear thru until you go thru
the board.

Add antlers and ears,
Make the nose and eyes out of fondnt attatch with some
piping gel.
Ice in a soft brown, then use a small comb and fluff
hair, Ice around the antlers, ears, eyes, nose with
the grass tip with white.

Then airbrush with brown accents around the nose, eyes
and on the antlers, your done!!! You have a deer!!!!!

Hope this makes sense, believe me I have made the
other deer about 5 times and this one is breeze
compared to the other one.

I am not sure what wire she used, I didn't make this cake but I used this concept to make a wild pig for my dads birthday and I added the wooded mount for mine. But maybe 20 gauge wire would work or mayb a clothes hanger since its sturdy. Mayb you can pm boween and ask what wire she used.
