I'm going to Las Vegas at the end of April and I'm very excited. Never been there before. Hubby and I are celebrating our two year anniversary.
Is there anyone here from Vegas and do you have a shop? I would love to see all the bakeries in the area. At least as many as I can! Or can anyone give me a suggestion of a good bakery where I could walk in and get a cupcake or something?
I'm from Las Vegas. There is Freed's Bakery, Retro Bakery, The Cupcakery and some other places. I really love going to Jean-Philippe Patisserie at The Bellagio. As for cake decorating shops, there's Chef Rubber, Treasures by Jan, Sur La Table. For gourmet ingredients such as Fondant, there is Praml and Las Vegas Gourmet.
Hi Rylan-
Sorry! I don't mean to change the subject. Can you recommmend any vegan restaurants in the Henderson area. My husband will at Nellis AFB for a fews days on business.
or any vegan bakeries near henderson/green valley area. Thanks.
Stacie
Hi Stacey,
I'm sorry for the late reply, I just saw this right now. I'm not really very familiar with vegan restaurants around the area--I'm vegetarian (again) and I can usually find food that I can eat at most of the top buffets. Las Vegas is the buffet capital of the world and I suggest he checks out Aliante, Red Rock, Rio, Wynn and Bellagio. As for bakeries, I believe Retro Bakery has some vegan cupcakes--although I'm not sure.
Sorry if I'm not much of a help. Henderson is on the other side of town and I rarely go there.
Good luck!

I usually make 4 nine day trips to Vegas a year but have never been to Henderson. I think there is one of the Coast casino/hotels there that should have large buffet.
I agree with Rylan , Most of the buffets have vegetarian choices, Not sure how much choice for Vegan. I try to be Pescotarian but occasionaly relapse. (Bacon and Sausage gravy being my Kryptonite) LOL.
The South Point casino has a great and very affordable buffet and I love thier Select your own Veggies stir fry section. They almost all have HUGE salad bars where You can deffinatly find plenty of vegetarian options.
And Jean-Philippe Patisserie at The Bellagio........ OMG TO DIE FOR!
The mediterranean veggie crepe, The Nutella crepe , The apple struedell, OMG.
But they have by far the best Gellato I have EVER had , and I am a Gellato snob! LOL
OMG>>> Send me some NOW Rylan! .... LOL
Jaime, don't worry, I'll take you there when you go here hehe.
Still haven't been to South Point, I should try that next time. Thanks for suggesting my friend.
Regarding vegan cupcakes at Retro Bakery: "While it wasn't made specifically to be vegan, our chocolate cake does qualify as vegan. Just ask and we'll work with you to get a topping on the cupcake that will meet your needs."
Retro Bakery is a fun little cupcake shop about six minutes from my house. She also has a great blog about what it takes to run a bakery--I'm a regular reader. http://buildingabakery.blogspot.com/
As for "cake shopping" here in Vegas, there is nothing I would add to what Rylan already posted. Welcome to Vegas!
"Sprinkles" is probably the most popular cupcake place in Vegas, and their cupcakes are yummy and so cute. There are SO many cupcake places in Vegas now, I'm sure you'll see a bunch of them. HAVE FUN. I love Vegas.
Retro Bakery has by far THE BEST cupcakes of Vegas! Whenever I go visit my parents I have to go there and it's worth the near hour round trip! (The 'Rents live in Summerlin) We used to go to Cupcake Lane and Sprinkles, but Retro's cuppies are so much better. They have the best buttercream I've ever tasted. Dad loves their Bacon cupcakes.
It's worth going there just for The HopScotch Cupcake. It is the most amazing morsel of cracktastic goodness you will ever experience. (can you tell I love Retro Bakery? LOL)
I don't think Retro does the over the top decorated cakes tho...if that's what you are looking for then Freed's is the way to go. Freed's is *Legendary* in Vegas for a reason.
Okay sorry to barge in but more or less how far is Retro bakery from the Las Vegas strip per say from Circus Circus. I go to vegas about 6-8 times a yr maybe more and I would love to take a drive to retro.

Hmm...it's off the 95 in North Las Vegas, so take the 15 to the 95 and keep going north until you get to Durango. Their address is 7785 North Durango Drive. I think it'd be about a 25 minute drive (depending on traffic) give or take?
It takes about 20 minutes to drive there from where I'm at (Charleston and Town Center, not far from Red Rock Casino)
We got our cake from Freed's when we got married. I was expecting a huge bakery when we picked up our cake, and was really surprised when it was a smaller shop. We thoroughly enjoyed our cake, and they were quite nice to work with. They have quite a bakery case (or they did a few years ago), and we bought a few small pastries to have in our room. They were also really tasty.
Hi there. I am from Vegas also. You might want to try Madhatter Cupcakes. They have a unique set up. You get to choose your own flavor of cupcake, frosting, filling and topping. There is a place called the Cupcakery at the City Center if you are going to be on the Strip. Have fun!
