Which Would Be Stronger: Color Flow or Royal ?? I need to make some plaque type pieces to go on a cake. Im needing to pipe them over an image onto accetate. So can anyone give me some advise on this? I will also need to have picks inserted into these pieces so that they can be pushed into the cake. I considered gumpaste but I believe the other 2 will be better for the detail I need to get.
Hi, from everything I know color flow is much stronger than royal icing. I've used color flow before and like the results. I'm not sure about the picks...I've never done that. I've only ever just sat my piece onto the cake. I'd make extra pieces just in case something breaks...but if there are no long skinny pieces, I can't see your piece breaking. Color flow needs to stay on the paper for at least 24 hours and then after it's removed from wax paper it must dry for 48 more.
It is also my understanding that color flow has a more shiny finish, while royal is more matte. That may make a difference in which you choose, too.
Colorflow is much stronger.
If you're worried about softening the picks: I used some leftover Colorflow to make rosebuds and put them on cupcakes. After about 2 days they started soaking up the moisture of the buttercream.
Thank you so much ladies, I was worried no one would have any advice for me, Im sooo releived!!
