I was on Ebay today and saw that they have: DUFF GOLDMAN FONDANT CAKE DECORATING CHARM CITY CAKES 2#'s for $10 plus shipping.

I remember when Duff didn't even know you could get colored fondant and now he has his own brand.

I also saw in the clearance aisle a: Ace of Cakes Cake making set for little girls.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised but I was.

I was on the Decopac site awhile ago and Duff has a whole line of products through them. He had kits, fondant, and icing colors.

Weird because on the show, his shelves are lined with Satin Ice!

actually I thought I remember on one episode he had said someone he knows makes the fondant for him...Maybe that's the owner of satin ice.. but I didn't get that impression.

That is odd because I thought I had heard him say that he uses Fondarific brand exclusively now. Might be on the fondarific site not sure.

I saw his fondant in Michaels. They had that along with some texture kits. If anyone has tried it, post a review.

I just noticed it at Michael's today too... I'm curious as to how good it tastes. I like the fact that it comes in many colors, so if you're in a pinch and don't feel like making it... It's really expensive here, though. More than Satin Ice. But at least you can use your coupon at Micheal's!
It says "Buttercream fondant" What exactly does that mean?

I bought the Duff fondant at Michaels. Seems expensive (but you can use the 40% off coupon) for a 2 LB tub but totally worth it. It can do the work of Wilton's 5 LB fondant and it tastes much better. My kids love it!
Anybody try it too? Any comment? My friend told me she couldn't find it in her local Michaels store. May be it is not in all Michaels. Did anyone see it in Joanne or Hobby Lobby?

It tastes like buttercream icing instead of traditional vanilla or MM. I have used the Fondarific product and it works out a heck of alot cheaper than duff's... even if I order and have it shipped from the states and they taste almost the same. It is actually doing decorators a favor really. This is for people who want to play and will become sharply aware of the cost of this profession. Michaels in Canada had it today for 29.95 for 2lbs. The buttercream icing was 27.95. Still.... pretty high even with the coupon considering how much you will need to cover a tier'd cake.... icon_lol.gif

I saw it last week here in Louisiana, and it was only 19.99.... for 2lbs. There was alot of different colors. Have not tried it yet, but want to. I love Satin Ice and the way it taste. They did not have alot of his stuff, just the fondant and some texture plates....

20$ for 2 lbs in the States....30$ for 2 lbs in Canada (Good thing our dollars are nearly even or it would be 50$ for 2 lbs......) I put it back on the shelf as well Snowbuns....that's outrageous....no wonder Wilton doesn't care if there's another brand at Micheal's.....no one can afford to buy it....I worked it out....it would be very close to 75$ to cover an average 3 tier cake in the new wonder Duff fondant... icon_sad.gif

I bought this product because I didn't want to spend time making black fondant. I wish I had just gone and colored my own though. This product was so hard when I took it out of the container I am pretty sure it could have been used as a weapon. I spent a lot of time working with it to get it to a state that could be rolled out. thumbsdown.gif

I use Michele Foster's recipe and use a butter emulsion flavoring. It's wonderful. Smell's like butter & tastes great too.

I tried Duff's fondant, It is hard out of the tub but a couple of secs in the microwave fixing that, tastes great, haven't covered a cake with it yet but did try to make a bow, even with some tylose it was soft and took a looong time to harden up. Tried it in my cricut thats a no go as well. My personal virdict is... tastes great, good colour selection and will probably be good to cover cakes but not so good for accents.

I bought a 2lb bucket from Michaels in the hot pink and used it on a cake for a customer and I absolutely loved it. It taste great and rolls very well, no air bubbles and it was really smooth. It was hard when I took it out of the pack but quickly softens up. I was doing a cupcake tower with a small cake on top using my cricut cake for the first time and it turned out beautiful.

It's not at my Michael's in southern CA. Haven't checked Joanne's & we don't have Hobby Lobby here.

for the person who thought it was hard when you took it out of the package...did you read the instructions? i'm not asking rudely, it's just that it says that you have to put it in the microwave to soften up. i bet you had to knead it forever!

i personally loved the way it worked and covered the cake...did it on the first try icon_smile.gif and was sooooo smooth! plus, it does smell and taste much better than others i've tried.

and like the others said, with the coupon, it's about $10 for 2 lbs of it! and i could probably cover a 3 tier 6, 8, 10 round with it...i don't roll my fondant very thick!

here's a pic of a skateboard cake i covered with duff's black so you can see how smooth and true black it was!

and to explain the cake...it was for a 16 year old boy who was an exchange student from germany, hence the german flag! he also was a huge skateboarder!

I just noticed his line at Michaels yesterday. My store had several colors of fondant as well as Icing Glaze? There was a kit with tips, couplers, bags, etc., some cutter sets, texture mats (I did purchase one), edible images, spatula's and a line of pans. I was impressed with the selection. I think that I'm going to use my coupon to try a tub of the fondant. I don't generally cover my cakes with fondant, but I do use it for accents. Curious to see how well it works.

His fondant is actually Fondarific. You can buy it all direct from Fondarific. They even have wholesale pricing.

To get it to work in your cricut. I put a little Tylose powder in it, smooth it out and put it on the mat, then stick the mat in the freezer for awhile. As long as I am not cutting really small cuts it works ok, but gum paste still works better.

My Michael's has it for $19.99 for 2#. I used a 50% coupon in it so totally a good price. It smells great. Harder to work with than Satin Ice. The verdict is still out. I really want it to work cause around here I can't find Satin Ice other than online & I hate that. I will let you know what I am done. ::crossing fingers::
