Doubtful On Cake Servings Charts....

Had to come up with an excuse to pull one of my chocolate wasc cakes out of the freezer. (bad craving for choc cake!) So I decided to put IndyDeb's cake measurements to the test. I sliced the cake just as she recommends on my 8" round. 1x2x4. I cut a slice for everyone in my family and waited to see what they would say if anything. No one said anything about the size of their slice! They happily ate it with a glass of milk to wash it down and went on their way! Truthfully I've always been a doubter of the servings but after trying it and seeing it I'm a believer...
Oh yea, did I mention how scrumptious the wasc cake was!!
Always love hearing how my cutting method helps folks out! I posted a link to this thread in another thread about cutting and serving size, so your timing was great!
I used Indydebi's cake cutting method this weekend and it worked beautifully on my 9-inch round cake. It's a healthy chunk of cake. Thanks for the tip, Indydebi!
I used Indydebi's method on two 8" rounds last weekend, and nobody complained that their pieces were too small. (There were the predictable seconds, since there were two types of cake, but that's the case even when pieces are larger.)
It is so much easier than the way I was taught in school, which involved cutting a circle 2" in from the edge and then cutting that ring into 1" pieces. I always thought I was the only one who couldn't cut that circle without making a mess.
Redpanda..Yea, I tried making sense of that whole circle thing lol...like you said this was much easier...

Your way is amazing--very easy to get appropriately sized pieces. The the photos are very helpful! Thanks for all the great advice I've seen you give to so many people here.
