I made a batch of chocolate MMF from one of the recipes found here on CC, and it was rock hard. Nothing I did would soften it up. I tried microwaving it, and kneading in some shortening. What did I do wrong?? icon_confused.gif

I would like to use chocolate MMF in the future because it tasted really good (yes, I tried it.. icon_lol.gif ), but I can't keep wasting ingredients on something that I can't use.

I had that happen with the kind with the melted chocolate added to it. Now when I want chocolate mmf, I replace about 1 cup of the powdered sugar with 3/4 cup cocoa powder and add a tiny bit of extra water (for a recpie that takes 1lb MM).

I did the substitution part with the powdered sugar and cocoa, but didn't add any extra water to the mix. Maybe that's the trick to making it work.

I usually add 1/4 cup of water to my MMF, or sometimes 1/3 cup if I'm making something likely to be dry, like chocolate or coloring it red.
