I want to know if anyone in here can please tell me where I can purchase Fondarific Fondant?

Besides GlobalArt and the Fondarific Website.

I need some to decorate my babys Bday cake but if I order online it won't be here by the 29th of Jan. And I definately cannot afford 2day or next day shipping.

I could also try Satin Ice but my last experience was not a good one, it kept cracking on me So I did want to stay away frm it. (no offence to all of you Satin Ice lovers I just didnt know how to work with it)

I know I should be making my own MMF but I dont have all the resources here to make it. Mixer , microwave etc.

If anyone can help I will be very appreciative.

I haven't actually come across it here (not that I've looked). Have you called around? I know that Surfas in Culver City stocks Pettinice, perhaps they have Fondarific (or perhaps you could try your luck with Pettinice). I'd also call NY Cake on Pico, they have TONS of stuff you can't find anywhere except online.

I'd be surprised if any of the other local cake shops have it I must admit. It seems like such a specialty item to me. Keep us posted if you track any down!

I drove to Glorias cake supply in Culver City. They have a decent size supply store and there prices are pretty good as well.

They do carry fondarific and also pettinice. So I was a little exited about that.

I hate their prices but they do have a lot of stuff. And you found Fondarific there! Good to know!

I was floored at the stuff @ NY Cake though. I've never seen PME cutters and gumpaste molds in an actual SHOP. There is another pretty good place, it's in Carson/Lomita "The Cake Palace" if you happen to be further south - more basic stuff like Gloria's and a little less $. (Oh wait I see ayerim is in Inland Empire, I don't know that it would be any closer for you) Gloria's carries Sweetex which is nice, but The Cake Palace carries Richs Whip N Ice (like Bettercreme but can't stay out as long).

Surfas doesn't have a ton of stuff (well wait they do...but they don't...more of their stuff is for baking than for decorating) but their prices are FANTASTIC. I highly recommend a field trip to anyone who hasn't been.

Surfas has great pricing. Like Ceshell said they are more for baking than for decorating so yes, you should find the square pans at a decent price. NY Cake also carries square pans but I did not look at their pricing. It is definitely worth a trip from Inland E. to check them out - their store is tiny compared to Surfas but has a lot more in the way of decorating.

Two other places that you may want to try - in OC - is Classic Cake on Valley View in Garden Grove. Great Shop - they will order anything that you want. Very helpful and sweet.

Orange Novelty Cake Supplies on MacArthur in Costa Mesa - also really nice and helpful. They have every imaginable cupcake holder that you would possibly want. She also carries lots of packaging supplies.

I agree - for pans I would definitely go to Surfas, not one of the cake shops. And then while I was there I would pick up some gourmet dutch-process cocoa...some Americolors and luster dusts for cheap (they have a pretty small selection though), some Callebaut choc. chips...then wander over to the gourmet cooking section and get some fancy jam, olive oil, specialty flour...etc.etc...

Leave the kids behind! That place is like Disneyland for cooks, you will want to FOCUS FOCUS lol. I never actually buy any of the other stuff btw (no disposable income) but it is sooooo much fun window-shopping there.

devorie, Cake Palace is a small shop but there really aren't a lot of actual cake shops around so every one counts! As I mentioned, the trip is worth it for the Rich's alone. I can't get my hands on that stuff anywhere and although it's not the more shelf-stable Bettercreme, it is still excellent in cakes and that says a lot coming from me, because I am an all-natural from-scratch snob LOL (I don't think there is a single natural ingredient in it). It can be used the same way as any application for Bettercreme (see the Melvira thread for 100's of ideas), but it can only stay out of the fridge for a few hours. I mixed it with peanut butter and put it in a dark chocolate cake, and OMG TO DIE FOR.

Thanks I'll definitely check it out. I tend to keep away from Surfas simply because I can't afford it. I get all these great ideas in my head when I'm there and then I go online trying to find it for cheaper and I can't stop thinking about the things I didn't buy and the possibilities of what I can do if I did buy those things....yada yada. I'm sure you get my drift . Where in SoCal are you?

There is another store Calico Cake Shop it has almost the same prices as the Cake Palace but CCS has more stuff like the mold pearls, merckens chocolat,pettinice,airbrushes an so on.

I've been to Calico. The staff were outright rude - I needed something from a high shelf and when I asked for help getting it down, I was told "can't you see that we are busy?" I WAS THE ONLY CUSTOMER IN THE STORE !!!! I don't care how busy you are with business things, but when a customer comes in and asks for help with items that are on a high shelf (I'm 5'4, the shelf was right under the ceiling above the windows) you stop what you're doing and help your customer. Had I not been so desperate for the items that I bought (30 styrofoam cake dummies) I would not have bought it there.

I hope to never have to walk into that store again!

Yikes! That sounds like an awful experience. I just looked them up and they are in Buena Park so there's little risk of me ending up there (I'm in the South Bay.) Anyone else near the S. Bay can pick up colors and Lorann oils and pans+stuff at Cookin Stuff in Torrance/Redondo. It's not a cake shop but they do have a rather large baking aisle, including a great assortment of pans (including ML) and tons of cookie cutters.

I hear ya on Surfas but their prices (for most stuff) are quite low. Still, I usually just go in there to dream, and then I come out with a bottle of gel just so I can say i made a purchase

I'm glad I opened this thread! I'm originally from Pismo Beach, transplanted to Fullerton for college, and now I'm in Idaho. I'm going back to OC for a Disneyland vacation so hopefully I'll get to stop by at some of these places. Thanks everyone!

Cooper's in Fontana
California Cake and Candy Supply in Redlands: This one has 3 large rooms with one dedicated to wedding cake supples. OMG is it almost overwhelming. They will order and ship if they don't have what you want.
All three know there stuff and really helpful.
Coopers is really small but stocked to the rafters.

Cookin' Stuff is at the corner of Sepulveda Blvd and Palos Verdes Blvd. (22217 Palos Verdes Blvd) - this area is borderline Redondo Beach. Here's their website http://www.cookinstuff.com/. It's kind of like a Bed, Bath and Beyond of JUST cooking related items.

If you time it right, the 405 to Surfas won't be too bad

I know they also carry Bettercreme at A&J Cake & Candy in Glendora. I was a the California Cake Club meeting there a couple weeks ago and she mentioned it specifically because she doesn't like pastry pride and so stocks it and it's a pain to get but she does because she knows people love it. I was actually thinking of driving out there to get some (I'm in the San Fernando Valley) because I didn't think to get some while I was there. She also has a huge selection of chocolate molds.

Not to make anyone jealous, but I was in NY Cake today!! I'm always in a great mood after a trip there? They did tell me that they plan to start offering classes which I am really excited to take! I would like to check out the stores in Culver City & Redondo - I'm hoping to make it there next week!

For those of you dissing "my" ( ) 405, it's really not all that bad. I had to be on the 405, 710, 10 and 110 today and the 405 had no traffic (as opposed to the 110 which was bumper to bumper and the 710 which was stop and go truckers & all) - this was at 11 am going north and 2:30 pm going south. You just need to know when to go in what direction, and you must have someone in the car with you so that you can do carpool. HTH

Well ladies I had not came back to see this post and yes I live 2 blocks from coopers in Fontana and it is a tiny little store but wow they have a little of everything. I love it there .

And also the one in California Cake and Candy Supply in Redlands is awsome they do have a big selection of stuff there. I have the kiddos with me all the time and I usually have to take someone with me to stay in the car with them cause man (here I go complaining bout the loves of my life) they wont stay still.

Aside from the ones mentioned, there is also...

Pila's in Norco sells Fondarific as well as the Sweetex Hi Ratio Shortening. She has a great selection of Magic Line pans as well. She sells a buttercream too which is really good.

Christina, we sat next to eachother at the 3C's meeting at A&J in Glendora I bought the Vanilla Rich's Bettercream since noone around sells it (Stater Bros only sells the Rich's Chocolate and Frostin Pride). A&J has a great selection of pans and cake decorating supplies as well. She also sells premade sugar diamonds in various sizes that she keeps behind the register....I had to buy them there when I couldn't find a mold around or had time to order them online.

OC Novelty Cakes is very small. Twice I've made it up there and they were closed with no sign on the door. I was there during opening hours and not during lunch so now, I just call them each time before heading over there. Their selection is very limited. Alot of the plastic decorations the bakeries use, great selection of cake pans as well as character pans, cake boards & boxes. They sell Satin Ice only.

ABC Cakes in Orange. Great store with a great selection of everything you need.

I usually buy large boxes of chocolate from Classic Cakes and they have a good selection of chocolate molds, same with Calico Cake supply.

I have yet to try visiting the others mentioned. I'm always on a hunt for stores so thank you for all your suggestions.

There is also chef's toys in Fountain Valley. I've never been, but it's on my list of places to check out when I bored.

I'm firing my search engine. I had no idea there were so many supply stores in SoCal! Thank you all! I've been using OC Novelty by default because it's 3 miles from me, but their hours are inconvenient for people with 9-5 jobs, you can't (or couldn't for a while) take your purse inside, and their prices on everything except boxes and sprinkles are pretty high... $35 for 5# Black Vanilla Satin Ice, but I was desperate!

Looks like I'll be making a couple of field trips in the coming weeks... thanks again!

wow-- this is invaluable info! I typically stick with Pila's in Norco or Temecula-- small selection, but the buttercream is good and the staff is super helpful. Wendy will answer any question at any time!! (I've called her for help before )

but I am hunting for Ateco tips and some fondant cutters.. gonna have to make some trips
