Now I don't want anyone to think I am ungrateful for being blessed with the ability to do what I love for a living.
But I want to know if any other cake business owners are burnt out of the business part of it. I love to decorate but as we a built the business I decorate less and less. employees take over that part and i am stuck doing more of the "crap" I really don't enjoy that aspect. Wish I could go back to out of the house sometimes and just focus on the CAKE!!
your the boss arent you? Cant you train or hire some one to do the bits you dont like so you can get back to the cakes? My uncle works in a car making factory, and was promoted to line manager, it meant he had to spend much more time in the office when he preffered to be in the thick of the line, he arranged to share his time with some one so he gets to do both.
That would be so frustrating. I am a one woman show here, so I get to do it all. I can certainly relate to the business part being the crappy part sometimes. We need to hire secretaries. Although, you sound like you need one more than I do.
Here's another thread that may help you.

How about a virtual assistant? There are lots of small businesses going to that. People who work from home (admn assts, secretarial) and they take care of your business stuff for you. They do everything that you need, web site, billing, etc....just a suggestion.
thanks all for your great suggestions. I actually got my hands on some cake this week. That always makes me feel better!!!
If I ever got to where I owned a business instead of working from home...I would totally hire people to do my finances and my paperwork and take my cake calls and do my baking and cleaning, while I continued to do the decorating and the personal consults.
After all, I think that since I started this business by MY decorating and MY consulting, that the business wouldnt' be the same unless I still did those parts, and then just hired people to do things I no longer had time to do.
I hope you can enjoy your business more! Take care...
