How do I make a tilted cake, not a mad hatter cake, I have done those, but a cake that the bottom tier is level the next tier is angled and raised on one side, than the next tier is tilted the other way and is raised on one side. I think you have to make a stand or something to make is do that, I don't know. Its-a-pc-of cake does a lot of them. I hope someone can help.here is a pic.

Hi and Welcome to CC, mandirombold. icon_smile.gif

Wedges are used to separate the cake layers at an angle in the photo you posted.

Swritik-If you are talking about the styrofoam wedges that they are using, I think the are cutting down what I would call "Cake dummies" which people use for fake cakes, and I wrap them in ribbon as seperaters for my cupcake towers. I order from Guildcraft Cakedummies. They are pretty inexpensive. Much less expensive then buying a bunch from the floral dept. and glueing them together. FYI try to order all u need at 1 time to save on shipping. The charge $5 and UPS charges around $7-10.

I decide to use RKT as a wedge, just to make sure no styrofoam will get into the cake when I stack it. I simple made my RKT recipe. Let it cool inside a greased round plastic (taller) container, I pressed down to make it compact and when is cool just take it out and cut my wedge.

Thanks Jan H for the helpful topics on this type of cake. As always you have provided extremely valuable and helpful information! Thank you.

Lanana - that is a great idea to use Rice crispies.

This is a great idea!! I made a cake like this a few years ago, and used styro, but it was only a display cake. If I ever make a real cake like this, I will use the RKT. Thanks for the idea!

OMG! I'm so darn glad I keep serching these threads. My only question about the wedge method was how in the heck do you keep bits of foam from getting in the cakes & you just answered my ?. I could kiss you hehehehe! I just could not get how you do it without foam in the cake. Oh! one more thing did you put a board under the wedges? and did you have any problems getting the dowel though all the cake & RKT?
