I am making a 4 tiered fondant covered wedding cake next week. It will have 7/8" black satin ribbon on it. I have heard about backing it with wax paper or contact paper. What is the best method and do I even need to do this? Thanks for your help!
PS...This is also my first wedding cake! Im very nervous!

If the cake is covered in fondant, you don't need to back the ribbon with wax paper/contact paper. I think the wax paper method is used if your frosting is buttercream. I use a little double stick tape on the back of the ribbon, and it sticks just fine to fondant.
Good luck on you first wedding cake!!

I just wet my fondant a little bit where the ribbon will be and then use little royal icing dots and put the ribbon over top. Sticks really well for me.
