This was my first year at Cake Camp. It was really fun. I've met a few well know cake decorators and even hugged them. I took pictures with every single one. There were also a few vendors and most of the things are really cheap. Fondx was $20 per 10 pound buckets and the gumpaste flowers from CalJava are EXTREMELY CHEAP. There are a lot of affordable things everywhere--I actually have gone overboard with my budget.

Anyways, after a some flirting with the really really really CUTE young gentleman from CalJava (isn't he handsome?), he gave me a big box of gumpaste flowers (no charge, yes you heard me). If I was single, he'd be my husband.

Christine from Satin Ice also gave me a free bucket of Dark Chocolate fondant -- she is really sweet.

Also, Dominic was really nice to demonstrate a lot of different things. Thanks for the free stuff as well.

Every money spent was totally worth it. All the molds and cutters are awesome. I can't wait to try everything I got.

Next stop, ICES! (hope to see the cute guy from CalJava again)

Here are some of the pictures (I have more but I'm too lazy to resize them):

I'll also post them on my website once it is done.

Thanks!

Oh yes, the famous people were so down to earth. I actually had a long chat with Marsha, she is so sweet. She also mentioned the Cake Central member who helped them on one of the challenges (TLC)

Btw, there was a lady who did a demo of the gelatin flowers. Omgosh, I can't believe it is that easy. SUPER easy.

The one who demonstrated the gelatin to use is Diane. I believe you are reffering to the other one who wasn't there.

Btw, I was sitting on the table and had a long chat with this one lady about modeling chocolate. When I saw a picture of Toba Garrett, it was actually her! I am so dumb! I should have taken a picture with her.

Britta, I was also in Vegas for 5 days before camp!!!!!! icon_surprised.gificon_surprised.gificon_surprised.gif wow, what a coincidence!!! my daughter, her boyfriend and my grandson went on vacation and it was extremely hot, but we had a lot of fun. When we were leaving I found out that cake camp was going to happen in a few days....I felt so stupid icon_redface.gif I know my family wouldn't be interested in cake camp, but I could had spend, at least, a day there....oh well, I would had spend a little too much $$ anyway LOL icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

I forgot to take a picture of him. I should have though and now I couldn't find him. I don't think he'll be interested with me anyways hehe.

The VERY cute guy is named Allen. He took the ten buckets out to the car for me. I bought them for a total of $179. I LOVED the pixie/disco dusts and bought a ton of them! Thank goodnes I drove because I bought so much stuff.

All of the instructors were very friendly and I had such a good time.

I was there too. It was my first year and my husband came along. I took 3 classes and loved them all. Norman Davis is just such a great person, he is the best.

I would love to know about the pans as well. I was wondering if the cake would bake too unevenly.

I got to go to cake camp this year too and had so much fun! And to top it all off, my class projects made it all the way back on the plane still intact!!! I'll post pics soon...I loved Nicholas Lodge's class especially...that man is super organized and we learned so much in such a short time! I got to do so many things that I've read about but simply hadn't tried up until cake camp.
I was a tad bit star struck, but did take pics with a couple of my instructors. All of the instructors I had were so kind (Autumn Carpenter, Cecilia Moreno, Debbie Brown, Nicholas Lodge). Cecelia Moreno spoke English as her second language (she's from Argentina) but her DH was her interpreter, and many of the class members also spoke Spanish, and we all got our class projects put together!
The thing I was most impressed with was how we cake people are so willing to help each other.....great community of people to belong to!
....and I was so thrilled to finally get to meet Kathy, my cake buddy from Cake Central (ladyellam) whom I hadn't had the chance to meet in person until cake camp!
