I've seen so many cakes that have decorations attached to wires sticking out of cakes. I think its sooo cute, but I'm curious on how you keep the wire from moving all over. Hmmm, let me see if i can explain my question...lol. So, how does a thin wire stuck in a cake stay in place? It seems like the decoration that is sticking out of the cake would be too heavy and eventually move the wire through the cake. Am I making any sense??

I guess I'm just wondering how you secure the wire in the cake?

Dip the wire in chocolate and insert in coffee stirrers. The coffee stirrers will protect the cake from touching the wire while the melted chocolate will secure everything in place.

Make sure you get the right size wire, that way it doesn't droop when you stick decorations.

there are a few things that i use. either a posy pick they come in various sizes from small to large so can accomodate an array of wires or a simple drinking straw with the bottom pinched together and sealed with cling wrap.

also the best wire to use is a 24-26 gauge as it is stiff enough to support weight but flexible enough to bend to creat effect.
