I recently froze a fondant cake and I didn't have any problems with it after it thawed out.. I don't know if it will make any diffrence being a couple weeks or not...

I just did an experiment with this. I made two 6 inch cakes covered one with buttercream and put a purple flower on it made out of MMF, then coverd the other one with MMF.
Put both in the freezer for a week and a half. I took them out today and thawed them. They look exactly like they did when I put them in the freezer.
I made them for a friend who wants me to do her son's 1st b-day cake, but I am on vacation for his birthday so we needed to see if it will last. She will taste test them tomorrow...hopefully they taste as good as they look!

Sue this was my experiment.
I am in the process in making 110 mini square cakes 2" x 2" x 2" and as I am doing it by myself I decided to do a trial with covering some with fondant and freezing them. I did two and placed in freezer for a week took one out and left in kitchen for a week and then the other night I took the second one out, left it for a day and a half then decided to share with hubby for afternoon tea. It was great and so I decided to cut the first one to see what it was like inside and it looked just as fresh but there was no way I was going to sample it. The only problem you have is when you remove them from the freezer they go sticky until the icing dries so you must not handle them until they are dry. Feel happier now as I was worried about getting them done in time.
