I saw the frog cake on here that people have made from Debbie Brown's book 50 Easy Party Cakes. I am having a hard time getting this book as quickly as I need it. I wish I would have found it sooner so I had time to order it. I've even checked local libraries and they don't have this book. Does anyone have instructions on how to make this cake that they could pm me or just some general tips or instructions on how to do it? I hope I'm not stepping on any toes asking for this. My mom loves frogs and I'm hoping to be able to make it for her. Also do you think it would be a problem to make it with gluten free cake? Thankyou so very much for your help and time.

Hi... is this the one you are talking about?

If so I don't have the instruction, but I would guess that it is the ball pan with the bottom cut off, another piece of cake sculpted for the head and covered in fondant, with fondant arms and legs and extra fondant details.

I did quite a few ball pan animals when I first started out, their in my profile, have a look and if I can help more please pm me!

I have the book you mention (the picture in the post above). If you have any questions, feel free to pm me. Here are some general directions, not sure if it will make sense but I'll try!

- The body and head are done with bowl cakes. Trim the sides of the small bowl cake to create short neck.
-attach the small cake to the larger one and ice with butterceam
-use fondant to make the mouth shape (two sausags, kind of like upper and lower lips and then a flattend ball at each end of the mouth) and eye sockets (flattend balls, indented with your finger).
-Cover cake with fondant
-legs and arms are rolled fondant and attached after the cake is covered.

I know this is probably impossible to follow, but not sure how else to write it; she doesn't actually describe the process for the face, but there is a picture. I have to run to work so don't have time to try to copy the book. However, if by tonight you havn't had anyone else supply the directions, let me know and I'll try to copy the picture for you.
Hope this helps a little! Good luck with it,
