Can I use Nutella as a cake filling or should I add it to whipped cream Or not use it at all. Thankyou to any one that can help
You can use Nutella as a filling. Who doesn't like nuts & chocolate?
I'm not familiar with whipped cream fillings (I have a non-hazardous foods license) and I think it would have to be refrigerated if using whipped cream.
Anyway, I make my own Nutella, it's much cheaper and just as good.

I used to put nutella on bread...basically on everything...
I use nutella a lot. Its actually my most asked for filling. Just don't refridgerate it. I did and it got really hard. The jar says not to but I didnt see it until after i took it out. What I did was I microwaved it for a few second to soften it up. It also says not to mirowave because if you put it too long it turns really, really soft and liquidy.
I buy mine at costco for less than $5 for the big jar. Walmart has the small jar for $4 so its not worth it there.

You can use it straight on the cake or mix it into something if desired. It's good mixed into chocolate Rich's Bettercreme, and also good mixed into ganache. Or IMBC. Or just on a spoon.
I am SICK AND TIRED of hearing you people buying that jumbo jar at Costco for $5!!! The Costcos near me do not carry Nutella
I have bought plain-label Nutella at supermarkets and World Market, it's pretty much the same. I thought the World Market nutella was a little thinner, but that was actually a good thing for getting it onto a cake.

Ughhh, I dont have a costco near me, the cheapest is walmart and its almost $5 for a small jar. OMG it is so good on wheat thins. I know if I started buying it again, I'd never have it for recipes, the kids and I would eat it up before I could bake with it.
I just made my first Nutella cake last week. I used Nigella Lawson's recipe in case you want to have a go - just Google it and it will come up. I wanted to use the recipe as a filled cake so I made up my own filling. I mixed IMBC with Nutella until I had the strength of flavour I was looking for. I cannot tell you how delicious it was. I had grown men with tears in their eyes begging me for more! Well, maybe not quite, but you get the picture.
Yes Maam! I make a chocolate hazelnut BC...soo delish...I make BC add some Cocoa pwdr then some nutella...enough to taste...plus a lil more...mmm tasty...Who ever decided to put Chocolate and hazelnuts together is a freakin Genius!

Mmmmm Nutella!!! My son just recently passed his oral food challenge for hazelnuts and he was given Nutella for the test...man does he love it. Thankfully he didn't react. He's outgrown, peanut, almond, hazelnut, and next week we are testing walnut. So far hazelnut is his favorite. I don't have to convince him to eat it regularily, he wants to eat it by the spoon ;0). Peanut on the other hand..not a big fan yet. It's dangerous having that stuff in the house..i just love it, and can eat it daily and never get tired of it. You've just gave me an idea, i may just add it to my next cake. Such yummy stuff!

There is a nutella filling rcipe here on cc which I have made. It is delisious and you could also use it out of the jar, it is thick enough where it will be stable.
I had never thought you use Nutella for filling in cakes. That must be absolutely to die for and I am going to have to try it out on my next cake!

The reason why I was asking is I thought if I used the nutella I wanted to use Frangelico liqueur to sprinkle on my cake then put the spread on top of that for my filling. I just thought that sounded good together

I'm not a snippy/snarky person, so I hope no none perceived my message that way. The internet irritates me in how we have to infer how something is meant... it leaves a lot of room for misunderstandings.

Frangelico is a Hazelnut liqueur that you have on the rocks or sip It is wonderful So I bet it would be good to use for the cake
I use Frangelico in my chocolate hazelnut cake. I brush Frangelico on the layers (I use yellow cake) and then spread on some slightly warmed up Nutella for the filling. I ice the cake with chocolate BC. If you don't have Frangelico, or don't want to pay for a whole bottle of it, you can substitute the hazelnut syrups available in the supermarket for a fraction of the price. I have used them successfully as well. I usually use the sugar-free variety.

here's another yummy use for nutella. Melt it in the microwave so it gets all soupy and dip strawberries in it like fondue. To die for!
