Does Anyone Use Bulk Cake Mix?

Our wholesale distributor has bulk cake mix. 50 pounds bags of white and devil's food. All are Pillsbury brand (which I am not fond of). You can get either plain or with pudding. I use individual boxes for my WASC and wanted to know if anyone buys this in bulk. Our salesperson said you only have to add water and oil....as a baker, I just don't see how it can taste that great. Any thoughts? I don't want to sacrifice taste for saving a few bucks.

I actually had my Sysco sales rep and the Pillsbury rep in my shop last week to talk about these. Even with the cost of the eggs and other additives, it's cheaper for me to buy the box mixes at walmart. That's strictly ingredient costs though .... I'm going to give it a try to see what kind of time-savings will be involved. (time IS money, ya know!)
I used that in my shop. I share you feelings on Pillsbury but.......
once I learned how to mix it it turned out as good or batter than boxed
kakeladi, would you mind obliging me on some tricks to get it turn out as you said "good or better than boxed"??? Thanks
