I reside in North Carolina. I found a link that I know doesn't directly apply to those outside of the county I'm in. The checklist may be helpful though. I didn't see listed health inspections on the checklist so, make sure to include that when going through things to cover.

I thought I had all my bases covered until I was recently contacted by the County Tax Assessor. They informed me that I failed to list my equipment...I'm talking, they wanted a full account of all equipment used in the daily process of my business goods....from tips to the oven...cost of it NEW even though some of it I had for 20 years or more, paid sales tax on 'em when they were bought, pay sales/use tax quarterly on all goods sold, I now will have to pay taxes on the stuff I use to produce it....whether I have sales or not...yearly(some items will depreciate after so many years)...hmmmmmmph... icon_evil.gif who'd thought? It's not like I didn't ask EVERY DEPARTMENT I dealt with...even the Register of Deeds with whom I registered my business name within my county...Do I need to fill out anything else? Am I legal now?

Find out if your local community college has a Small Business Center...the information may be free for the asking.

I hope this information will help someone else who may be interested in a HOME-BASED BUSINESS.

I believe I now have everything on the list checked off.
