Everyone has been asking so I guess we'll go ahead and try this.
Hopefully I don’t come across as to bossy but here are the rules:
This contest is for all newbies. I don’t care how long you have actually been doing cakes if you consider yourself a newbie you are. I’ve been doing cakes for years but just started working with fondant so there for I’m a newbie at it.
Since I’m going to be posting the pictures I get to pick the theme for the month. So right now the theme would be for Oct. and we’ll start out simple with just a fall theme, single tier cake. All entries would need to be to me justgale@yahoo.com by the 15 of the month. I will then set up a poll and post the submissions. I’m not sure how many it will let me post at a time, so I may have to do more then one. If that is the case I’ll take the winner from each and we’ll then vote on them.
I’ll need everyone to send me your name, and no it will not be posted with your picture, about how long you have been doing cakes and how your cake relates to the theme, and weather or not it’s for the bc or fondant contest. We’ll keep the voting open for 10 days. (in case we have to do a second vote) Since I like to add little plastic picks and stuff to my cakes and this is a newbie contest I will allow them on the bc cakes only. (I know no fair but part of doing fondant is learning to do the cute little charters I’m no good at doing) You also can not add your photo to your gallery until after the contest is over for the month. The winner will receive bragging rights. Let me know if I forgot anything, or if there are any questions. Good Luck to everyone.

Could we do something that allows everyone to be apart of this... 2 levels or something... I am not a newbie but I am not a prof either and really wanted to do something?? |

We are already doing seperate buttercream and fondant compentions. I've been working 6 days a week lately (can't keep help in a grocery store bakery) I've also been having computer problems. I'm not sure if I would have enough time to post all the pictures for another contest. I'm sorry If you could find someone else to collect and post all the pictures I would say go for it. Or maybe If I don't have to many problems with this one I might consider doing it. Let me get through this one first.

Ok just got my first questions in a pm. Here it was:
Ok...here's my newbie question for the newbie contest. The rules say the cake needs to be a single tier cake. I'm wondering if I can stack 3- 2" layers (all the same size) on top of each other? So instead of having a 4" high cake it would be 6" high, or will the extra 2" layer be considered another tier. Also can we use RKT to help with our design?
And my reply:
OHHHH the questions are starting already Just kidding. Ummm since we're sort of making up the rules as we go along, Sure I don't see why you can't stack them if they are all the same size. Rice Krispys ummmm well I keep putting off doing my first rc mold by palying on here so......I guess if I'm allowing little plastic picks and suff on the bc RKT will be allowed too. |
