besides being parents and partners, what do all the other Part time, non professional bakers do? I'm a work and family teacher for the past 29 years....what do you do? When do you do your baking. We seem to always decorate on Thurs/Friday evenings, sure makes for a long day.

I am a Deli/Bakery Head for Krogers. I do everything from ordering to Cake decorating, cheese shop, customer service, baking the bread, Starbucks, Chippery and whatever else needs done!!

I have 2 boys - 11 and 4. I do all of my baking and decorating in the evenings or VERY EARLY!

I work at my children's school as a classroom supervisor (basically like a teacher but the parents can't yell at me lol) and I'm a mother of 3 kids and I originally asked for Thurs,and Fri off from work for the whole cake thing...but they talked me into working but it's only for like an hour or so in the mornings....I'm waiting for the off chance that I don't have a cake order and I get most of thurs and friday off of work AND my kids are at school! I probably won't know what to do with myself.

I'm a special education teacher. I usually bake the weekend before, do icings and fillings on week nights after my three little ones are in bed, and then decorate Thursday and Friday nights. It can get pretty stressful.

I am accountant ifor a major Univeristy and CPA. I completed my MBA in Finance. I will be moving to California- Irvine and will be working for large consultant investment firm in two weeks. I also completed by baking and pastry diploma at ICE. I work part time Tuesdays nights (4 hours) and Saturdays (8 hours) at a friend's cake decorating shop in New York. I love decorating and baking cakes for family as presents

I emailed a couple bakeries in Orange County and was offered a job just working on Saturdays helping a cake decorator. She said she can only give me miniumum wage. I told her I will work for free. She emailed me and said I have to pay you! Nice lady.

I feel fortunate learning to decorate wedding cakes on the job. As a deaf person it is difficults sometimes taking cake decorating classes and have learned more on the job by watching and observing. My cake decorating boss likes to hire me because I don't have to answer phones or work at the front counter and just focus on decorating.

I am disabled, retired from nursing in 99 due to a severe back injury. I have one daughter who is 29, and 3 grandsons. The youngest grandson was born with severe hydrocephalus and 3 holes in his heart which have now closed. Grand baby 4 is due in Jan, I am praying for a girl! I am single and dating.

I'm an hourly manager at mcdonald's, I bake for my friends and family, and employees only, so usually on my days off, or at nights. I've got 3 little ones also.

I'm a systems support analyst (software tester) for an insurance company. I like my job, but wish I had the nerve to go part-time and make cakes part-time. Maybe some day.

Im a MEDIC on an ambulance, love helping people....and mother of 4....30yrs old boy, 27 yr old boy in army 8yrs...or should I say "men"...lol, nawwh ...boys! lol...and two girls 18yrs old, just went into the military, and 14yr daug...who thinks she is 30yrs old...lmao

I'm a graphic designer. I worked full time for many years as a designer at our state university until my oldest daughter was born. I've freelanced now for 8 years. I enjoy working from home while still being able to do everything with my 2 kids. I'm only a hobby baker, but when I bake, I usually make the cakes and frosting on Wednesday night and do all the decorating on Friday. If I'm doing anything that needs to dry like figures or decorations, I'll usually do them at least a week in advance!

It's neat to see what everyone does for "real"!

I was a high school teacher (science and math) in a private school until I had my kids, then quit...tried to go back part time, didn't enjoy it. So became SAHM except one year I worked p/t at a caterer, where I learned alot more about baking and got more confident with wedding cakes. Now licensed/insured from home, but just p/t of course, with four boys...2-4 cakes per weekend avg.

SAHM...in my past life (BC - before children) I was an elementary teacher and worked for the State Dept.
I've got two boys - 2 yrs. and 3 weeks.
I bake mainly for my husband's office and friends. I sell a few cakes every now and then.
I bake during the day when the kids are asleep and decorate after they've gone to bed. Makes for some very late nights...

I am a full-time Unit Assitant in Mammography/Radiology at a hospital. I am, unfortunately, the one who gets to be there when people find out that they have breast cancer.
I bake cakes and cookies, paint children's rooms, make wedding invitations & programs, and am a mother of 3 (8, 5, and 18 months).

When people ask me if I work full-time, I tell them that I work OVER-TIME!

I was a SAHM for 15 years (my favorite job), went back to work 10 years ago. I'm working on my 11 year as a computer support specialist for an elementary school. I work with the kids in the Lab, maintain all the computer equipment in the building and do the school webpage. I think we have the only elementary school webpage in the world with a recipe page! My "babies" are 25, almost 20 and 17. Of course, I have almost 400 babies at work to love!

I do more baking for my staff than for anyone else!

I work as a financial advisor assistant, it's what Iv'e done for over 9 years, with some payroll/tax reporting, etc included in it. Also a mom to 2 boys and a girl, 4,3, and 1. I'm working on my licensed kitchen though and the goal is to be at home by March next year, doing this full time. It'd be like vacation to only have 1 job before my oldest starts kindergarten.

It's always entertaining to see the various interesting careers and then to know those hard working people have a little cake decorator inside them

I am a full-time mommy, wife & insurance broker and a part-time college student. Since I've gone back to school, my time for hobbies is extinct; I dream about cake more than I bake nowadays...

I am the Finance Manager at a credit union and I have my MBA in finance. I bake whenever I get the chance and always volunteer to do family cakes! I LOVE to decorate and do crafts of any kind and I am a mother to a wonderful 4 year old little girl who just started junior kindergarten this week .

It's nice to find out what everyone does outside of decorating.

I'm also a mother of two babies - Liam, 2 yrs, and Sarah, 9 mo. : )

I'm an elementary school teacher with two children (25 year old young man and a 17 year old young lady). I've taught for 30 years. I am practicing making and decorating cakes for school activities. When I retire I hope to turn it into my retirement job. I plan to retire when I get the youngest out of college (she's a senior in high school). I really enjoy my hobby and as my daughter says, "She loves making cake."

I work for a printing company that makes your catalogs and inserts for the newspaper. I take care of the truckers that come in for shipment. I see that they get what is suppose to be on their truck, reconcile the paper work, and send bills. Sometimes I drive a hoist truck and sometimes I have to do all of the above and then load that truck. I like my JOB but don't care much for the company management. I am a mother of 2 and a grandma of 3 wonderful grandchildren. I have a very supporting husband that I love for the past 30 years. I started baking cakes a few years ago and I just absolutely love it. My dream is to have a very small cake shop someday. I bake for friends and family.

Until recently I worked in the Neurology field; 8 years pediatric neurology and 5 years adult neurology/chronic pain.

I very recently switched fields and ended up as a patient care coordinator for a company that employs Drs in a hemorroid clinic. My main duty is to assist the Drs with the removal of hemorroids (internal and external) by either banding them or excising them.

And yes, I have become the butt of many jokes with my friends. Also, the dinner conversation has changed dramatically!

I do not have any children, but, I do have the most adorable American Bulldog/Pitbull mix named Lenny.

I am the owner/operator of a cleaning business that specializes in residential homes. I started it 10 years ago and it is how I pay the bills.

I've been a SAHM for the past 7 years. Two beautiful girls ages 12 and 9. By far the best job I have ever had. I am an RN and started substituting for our district last year and love working in the schools that my girls are at. A huge change from my critical care and emergency care background but so much fun! I have a pretty successful at home bakery business and work mainly on Thurs/Fridays for weekend orders.

of course my "favorite" all time comment from an older uncle in the family "are you still just an old housewife or did you get a real job yet" Kills me because every one of the older female generation in the family were old "housewives" and that was okay.

I have held positions as a public elementary school special education teacher, private school principal and elementary program specialist over the last 28 years, Currently I am an Elementary Special Education Placement Specialist for the county school system. I have one 21 year old son who is attending college to be a high school English teacher (must be in the genes). I bake now for friends and some sales. Hope to do this as my retirement fun for some extra $$$ and fun.
