I plan on carving a pyramid cake out of square cake. Will I have to put in dowel rods for every 2 stacked? If anybody has made one I sure could use the help!
Thanks!
I would like it to be at least 18 to 20 inches high. The banquet is for 130 people. I know I'll have to make a sheet cake to go with it but I want a wow pyramid cake too.
I would dowel every 4" if I were you. It makes it easier to cut that way too. You know, because then you are cutting onto a board at every 4 inches, and you know how much you are cutting. good luck!
A pyramid cake for my brother's birthday would be awesome. I would love to do something like this and look forward to pictures.
What I decided to do is a sheet cake 11 X15 with a smaller pyrimid on top. I'm using a 8x8, 6x6 and 4x4 pan and carving it. Then using fondant to cover and luster dust for the shimmer. I'm hoping its dazzling! LOL
Let us know how it turns out! I guess I should have clarified that on the diagrams above they use an 8-inch 2-layer square, lined up with the edge of counter. Go in 2-inches on each side at a 45 degree angle I believe. That should give you an 8" sq. x 8" H pyramid. Sorry for not doing it sooner! HTH!
Thanks for you diagram. It helped me!! I have it carved and in the fridge with a crumb coat. I'll post pics. soon. Banquet is tomorrow!!!!
Awesome! Make sure to post pics. I haven't even tried this yet. I found the diagram somewhere, don't remember where a couple years ago, and have been wanting to try it. Just haven't had the right occasion to yet. Can't wait to see the finished product!
Those diagrams are really great. If they're not already, you should post them in the templates & sketches album.
