I'm looking to buy powdered colours to paint with instead of blending in the paste. So far, I think Sugarcraft is the main supplier??? I can't seem to find anyone else who sells them? Anyone know if Sugarcraft is any good?
Thanks!
Jane

They really are expensive! I wonder if they last longer than the paste colours? They are supposed to be much more vivid and realistic looking...I guess I'll find out! LOL!! icon_lol.gif / icon_cry.gif

I love the powdered colors for painting on cakes. Just mix with a little lemon extract, and paint away. I like to let mine sit for a few minutes for some of the extract to evaporate, so the color is a little thicker, that way I dont feel like I have to go over my lines more than once.

Go to http://www.sugarcraft.com/ and go to colors to look for the powdered colors. I bought the set, and then I bought a black and then a white to go with. They werent that expensive.

It's like buying 1/2 oz of Kryptonite! A little goes a very long way, and I have yet to have to replace a single color, and I make a fair amount of gumpaste flowers.

Look at the colors and compare with the other vendors. FDA approved (not just "safe"), MANY hard-to-get-colors, and it really does go a long way.

Jane,

Remember, a little goes a long way. I blot some onto a tissue with a soft brush and then brush it onto my gumpaste flowers. You can experiment with how much you use and how hard you press to get different effects.

They are a powder right? Do you ever mix them with extract and use them as a paint? I'm really anxious to try them, I find mixing colour into the gumpaste doesn't look realistic, but I'm nervous to use them the wrong way and waste them!

I have mixed them with alcohol. It is a very different effect, and really good with their shimmer colors. I usually use them straight as a powder on my gumpaste right after I roll it out and cut it.

Hope that helps.
