I have a major problem. I have been asked to do a beach themed cake for a family friend. She wants it for next Friday. I am leaving for vacation this Saturday. She wants my cake so we are going to freeze it. She will pick it up Fri. eve. take it home & freeze.
OK, now this cake will be 6 & 8 i double layers, iced with buttercream. It will have a fondant picket fence, and chocolate seashells, Graham cracker crumb sand. What would be the best way for me to freeze, that she won't have to do much else but sit it out.
I've attached a photo. I'm not sure if this cake is one from this site or not. I've never frozen a cake already decorated before, so any help will be greatly appreciated.!

the cake might be fine but not the decor.
The gumpaste fence will not hold up to the freezer. I made a gumpaste figure and she fell right over when thawed. Not to sure about that "sand" either. If you use graham cracker crumbs, they will most likely get soggy when thawed.
If the shells are choc., the luster dust may "bleed off".
I am speaking only from my experience, maybe someone else has had better luck.

Can someone use the pieces to "decorate" it after it has thawed in the fridge for a day?

I was thinking about just freezing the cake and sending all the decorations along with this pic and they can just add it all at the shower.
By the way, I don't think I made it clear in my first post, the cake in the photo is not mine. I found it on the net. I'm not sure which site it was.
Thanks for the help. I'll just freeze the b/c covered cake and send the decorations along to be added after the cake has completely thawed.

I have frozen a cake with fondant on it and the fondant did not hold up it totaly fell down. Freezing just the cake and sending the other stuff would be a better idea if you trust them to put it on the right way.
