I just tried the cake mix extender on a DH butter recipe golden cake. I could not believe it. Not only did I get 2 ball halves but also 12 cupcakes. Then when it was done the cake tastes AMAZING. icon_razz.gif and there were no crumbs. I will definately use this again.

I use the super-enhanced cake formula with Pillsbury White...it is my most popular cake. You gotta love doctoring cake mixes!

I've been trying to get the word out about DH Golden Butter recipe too. It is Great!!! I use it 90% of the time. The extender recipe makes it taste even better. I make the Almond pound cake with this Mix from the CMD. I get so many orders for this cake. I use milk instead of water and 1/4 butter and 1/4 canola oil in place of 1/2 cup of oil. Everyone should try this mix.

It's in the recipe section. Just do a search for extender.

This is a great idea I can't wait to try.

Cake Mix extender

Serves/Yields: 3 x 9" cakes
Prep. Time:
Cook Time:
Category: Cake Mix Cakes
Difficulty: Easy

I've used this for any cake flavour. The result is a terrific , moist and dense cake that is easy to frost and decorate. Tastes like scratch cakes. I get rave reviews everytime I make a cake. I've used it for other 18" or slab cake pans. All I do is make 2 mixes instead of the one. I make each mix individually and then stir them together in a large bowl prior to pouring in the pan.

Prepare cake mix as per package directions. In addition to this add,

1 egg
1 cup flour
250 ml (or 8 oz.) sour cream or yogurt (I prefer to use low fat yogurt)
1 cup white sugar
1/3 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla or other suited flavouring

Bake as per pkg. directions
Nutrition Information
Fat content will vary depending on whether or not you use full fat sour cream or yogurt. I've used them all including low fat sour cream, yogurt etc.... and the results are great each and every time.

Years ago my Mother used an extra tsp of baking powder in each cake mix to give it more volume, but this is sooooo much better and the yield greater. Thanks for posting.
