Hi all,

Up til now I've been using the basic Wilton rotating cake pat as my turntable. Since I'm doing more cakes now I thought I'd treat myself to a 'real' turntable as I imagine it would make decorating a bit easier (elevated, ability to angle a cake, etc).

My question to you: Of the different styles and the different brands, which do you suggest?

Many thanks!

Get a really heavy one. Bakery Crafts or Ateco are great!

I have the cheap one from Wilton. It's white plastic, about $15. I also have the expensive one from Wilton ($60). My mom works at Micheals!! I actually use my cheap one more often than the expensive one. The expensive one tilts, so I'll pull it out for that...but that's about it. If I were to do it all over again, I'd go look for a nice professional one, like I see on bakers featured on food network...you know that ones that spin really fast?? Hope that helps. good luck finding one.

I second leahs- Ateco would be my choice. Also Fat Daddios has one out I would think about.

The wilton tiltable turntable seemed like a great idea when I bought it but if you are trying to level something on it it wobbles. It's great for stringwork though.

thanks all.... now how about size... I'm not extremely familiar with what is available - is there a diameter that you would suggest? Want to make sure I get the best value (more bang for the buck)

Lorrieg - to clarify - do you suggest avoiding the tilting versions unless there's stringwork in the future?

I also have the cheap white turntable from wilton and the tilt version. The tilt one does not rotate as nice as the cheap on and it is not good for leveling a cake because it does not sit perfectly straight. I like that it is higher than my other one but for the price I don't think it's worth it. But I do love having more than one. I find myself using both at the same time alot. HTH icon_biggrin.gif
