Mady my first rolled bc today - MAN is it sweet! However, FI and the kids keep stealing it and like it better than MMF. I found it easier for figurines than mmf because it held its shape better. It was pretty soft for roses, but they held their shape before mmf would have. Made some mini pumpkins, too, and they worked really well.

IMO it was a good way to use up leftover bc. I just added some corn syrup and lots of pwd sugar to what I had sitting there until it wasn't sticky but still soft. I do prefer 50/50 mmf/gumpaste but this is good too for those of us with limited supplies.

Think it would be GREAT on NFSC, and not chewy like mmf.

I made some rolled buttercream just to practice with and to see if it tasted better than the nasty Wilton fondant. It sure did!! The only thing I didn't like about it is that it stays shiny because of all the shortening.

I don't like sculpting with MMF. It seems to crack and dry too quickly.

My new favorite fondant is Pentinice. Satin Ice was making me sick from the smell. Wierd, eh?

I use the wilton fondant only for the non edible Items on the cake. I covered a strofoam circle on top of the cake and the rest was vanilla satin ice which tastes like mmf.

Krissy,

Mine wasnt shiny. Hmm, perhaps I added more sugar. I used my regular BC, not the recipe. Added 1/2 c corn syrup to appx 4 c bc, plus pwd sugar till not sticky. I approximate though, so it may not turn out the same next time!

Jan,

Have fun! I think it ended up taking about half a bag of pwd sugar, but it was easier to add in small amounts . You'll end up kneading tha last bit in.

When you pull, it shouldn't stretch. Take it past the stretchy part but not dry. Does that make sense?

Zmama,

Thanks for the tips! And yes, it does make sense.

I just made the Easy MMF last week-end, and now feel I can conquer the world...
