Ok I have 2 questions.
1) Is marzipan figures just like fondant if not what is the difference and does anyone have the recipe??
2) What is the recipe people use for the gingerbread house and for the icing to make it stick together as well as to decorate it.
Thanks in advance.
I used the gingerbread recipe on this site and it was awesome. I just use royal icing as my edible glue to assemble and decorate with.
To try and answer your first question. Marzapan is an almond paste mix it is oily compared to fondant. It can be used the same as fondant. Now the recipe,it is very time consuming to make. If you have a quisnart it might help. I buy mine at the grocery store already made up. HTH
On big difference in marzipan is that it doesn't taste as bad as most kinds of fondant.
You can find a pretty general recipe for gingerbread and that should work. Royal icing will make the best glue and is good for a lot of decorating too.
Thanks so much I will do that. I will also look for the already made marzipan. I wanted to do Gingerbread houses with my little sister next week when she comes and stays with me and wanted to know how to do everything before she comes. Yall are great help thanks.
