Anyone have a good recipe for a cookies and cream cake with chocolate sandwich cookies? Thanks so much!
the only thing I can think of is to make a chocolate cake and fill with a buttercream mixed with crushed oreos. If you replace the milk/water with whipping cream it gives it more of that oreo filling tast. If you ever find one pass it on please, it seems to be a lot of people here are looking for a good recipe. I've tried 2 that didn't turn out so good, so I'm on the hunt too! good luck.
I made a chocolate cake on one layer with a white cake on the second layer, then I filled the cake with cookies and cream filling. You take whipped cream and 20 crushed oreos and fill the cake. It was soooooo good. I wonder though if you could just add crushed oreos to a white cake, how that would turn out, maybe I will try it.
Hope I helped.
Here is a recipe i used for my neighbor just a couple of weeks ago. He and his whole family loved it.
Pillsbury Devils food cake
1 box chocolate instant pudding (dry)
1/4 - 1/2 milk
Make cake according to box instructions, add pudding mix. The batter will be a little thick, that is where the milk comes in. Add enough to give you a "batter" consistency. Cook at 350. I usually cook my cakes till just a little crumbs stay on the toothpick. Bout 25 min or so for 9 in cake.
Cookies and Cream filling (from WBH book)
This is only a half reicpe since the original makes 6 cups.
1 1/4 c heavy cream
1/8 c pdr sugar
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
15 oreo cookies crumbled and smashed (good job for kids to do)
Whip cream, pdr sugar, and vanilla till stiff. Fold in oreo cookies. Then refrigerate for a little while.
I made the cookies and cream filling first then put it in the frig while i cooked the cake. It just seemed to do better for me this way.
I hope this will help.
This is from Chocolate from the Cake Mix Doctor Book with a change or two I use:
1 Pkg white DH cake mix
1 small pkg instant pudding mix (vanilla)
1 cup milk (or buttermilk)
1/2 cup vegetable oil
4 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
18 sandwich (oreo type) cookies, coarsely chopped
Mix all ingredients except cookies until wet, scrape sides of bowl and mix until well blended (abt 2 minutes)
Fold chopped cookies into batter (make sure they are coarsely chopped and not crumbs or the cake will be dry and grey looking)
Bake in prepared (greased and floured) pans. For 9 inch rounds, bake about 28 minutes, until center springs back when lightly pressed with your finger. Cool on rack 10 minutes, then remove from pans and completely cool on rack.
This gets rave reviews - I frost with cream cheese or buttercream frosting (good with chocolate frosting too)
Not a cake recipe but if you want to do a filling:
1 (16 oz) heavy cream, whipped to stiff peaks
Add:
confectioner's sugar (to taste)
vanilla extract
15-20 crushed Oreo sandwich cookies
