Hi everyone!

I have been asked to have a table at a local gala next month. All of the "elite" restaurants have tables and I feel very honored. This is a great opportunity for me.

They have asked that we all wear chef/baker's attire. Can anyone recommend a good site to purchase this? I know with some you have to order 6 or 12 and I just need 2.

Thanks in advance!

Amy

Do you have a uniform shop anywhere close to you? Usually if they sell medical uniforms, they have chef uniforms also.

My sister works in a doctor's office and checked where she buys her scrubs but didn't see any. I am going to call them tomorrow.

momof4 - Do you know of anywhere in Raleigh?

I would not consider purchasing kitchen whites online unless I was absolutely sure the garments were going to fit. Where the garments are manufactured has a lot to do with fit.

If at all possible, go to a uniform store.

I have checked out all the sites. If anyone else ever needs to know, ChefWear.com is the cheapest out of all those listed.

My second question --- is it improper to not wear a chef's hat?

Thanks again!

I have never seen a decorator with a chef's hat.

I get my chef's coats at a restaurant supply store that's open to the public, called Ace Mart. I think you can order online from them, too, but I've always just gone to their store. Their basic coats are $15.

I ordered mine from Ebay.

The dude on there that has them has great ones and they have a nice roomy fit!

I got a PINK one, with a chef's hat and scarf to match. (I'll never wear the hat OR the scarf with it--not my thing!) icon_biggrin.gif

But you can order just one, or as many as you need, and he does combine shipping.

LOVE MINE!!

OMG - I have really wanted a pink one!!! I joked with DH last night that he had to have a pink one too!

Well, that solves it, I'm not ordering the hats. I don't look good in hats, but a friend had said that she thought you weren't full dressed without it, so I was worried.

icon_surprised.gif OOPS!

I meant to say that I ORDERED the chef's coat in PINK, and the HAT AND SCARF just CAME with it!! icon_lol.gif

Sorry about that--yeah. I'm just not the "frenchy hat" type, I guess... tapedshut.gif

I think you'll like them, though--you'll just wanna starch it real good before you wear it & all. thumbs_up.gif

I have always wanted a reason to wear a chef's hat! I think they are fabulous! I have a friend with a donut shop who wears her chef hat to make donuts and deliver them! lol. I am definately going to wear one someday!
