I have surfed the net and looked all over and can't decide which web service would be better. I can compare options but that just does not seem to help me.

Any votes for which ones not to use or what you did like would be appreciated. I need something that is very easy to follow as I am not a pc geek. icon_lol.gif

Thanks,
Korkyo

I'm not sure exactly what your specific needs are going to be, but for my web hosting service I use 1and1. I just maintain my website myself and then upload whenever I need to update my info.

here's the web address:
http://order.1and1.com

I use register.com and I do my own maintenance (except for the cookies website, which my son-in-law does). You can get 5 pages for $4.95 a month. I have the 20 page one for $14.95.

Here's how you get around the limited photos ..... I also have a flickr site (link below) that costs me $25 annually for practically unlimited uploads. I have a link on my wedding cakes page to take brides to the flickr site to see the bulk of the photos.

I know a lot of folks on here have free websites. You can do the same flickr link for add'l photo space regardless of the service you use.

Are they easy to use?

surfergina-
I have found them very easy to use and work with. I especially like the administrator tools that I get that allow me to keep track of where in the world visitors to my site are located, how many unique visits I have and what browsers they are using. I think they are very reasonably priced as well. I have used them for over four years now, and I have never had a problem.

"Well behaved women seldom make history"
-------------------------------------------------
Wow, I LUV that! Sounds like something Mae West would say. One of my favorite quotes from her is: "Between two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before." and "Good girls keep diaries ..... Bad girls don't have time!"

I'm sorry, I have no clue how to pull a quote from the previous post with the cool little box around it, so....

It's a quote by Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, but I have adopted it as my own mantra. I just ordered a bracelet with the quote inscribed on it.

I also use Register.com and I love it. It is absolutely easy to use and I think it's very affordable. I do everything myself and I didn't have any trouble doing it. Easy to set-up and maintain...Good Luck!!

I also use www.1and1.com and I really like them as well. To build my web site I used their web site builder that has premade templates and it is very easy to use. They have different packages you can buy, I have the MS Business Package and it is only $7.49 a month, although they have cheaper packages also. They also bill you every 3 months so you dont have to pay for a year at a time.

I use freewebs and you can't really tell except by the link itself. You can look at my website with the link below next to my photos button icon_smile.gif

It's very easy to maintain and I do it all myself. Basic HTML knowledge is needed for the blank start but they do have premade packages that you just input your info into and I've seen alot of CC'ers whom have used the premade layouts and the still look very nice icon_smile.gif

HIt the little box in the upper right corner of the post that says "quote". Then just make sure your cursor is outside of the closing quote (that looks like this : [/quote]

Just visited your website and I had to tell you that it looked so lovely! I like it and I will try my hand on FreeWeb. I'm still trying out on several other sites, like 1and1, Yahoo!SiteBuilder, etc., and see which one is very easy to use and budget-wise.

Is there any website that offer free FreeWebs templates? I'm looking for sweet bakery themes, like cake, cookie, cupcakes.

Sorry, fellow CC'ers, this doesn't help the actual topic any, but I have to say this is great information. Even though I'm not there yet, when I get ready to setup a site, I'll know exactly where to look for great resources!!! Thanks to all.

My website is hosted by DomainNameSanity.com. I can maintain my own info and upload any new updates and whatever whenever I want to.

Thanks for the posts about 1and1.com. I was planning on going w/ someone else but this does exactly the same things I loved about the other site and it's $5.00/month cheaper, can't beat that!

I love , love, love Homestead.com!!!!! Our original site was with register, but they were always limiting the pictures, and only offered scroll pages, and the templates were too limiting. Take a look at our current site below. They have hundreds of easy to change templates, you can customize everything, and they don't limit the size of your site it can be 400 pages if you want and add all the photos you can possibly take. Before deciding, play with it and definitely download the site builder tools that are fee.

We pay 20 per month but it is worth every penny. Definitely don't settle for a cheaper service, you will regret the time you had to put into a starter site. Eventually you will want something better but most likely the company won't have what you want. It took about 1 month of every spare moment I had to create our gorgeous site but you can start with 4 or 5 pages and add as need be. I would recommend getting a notebook and create a list of the pages you want then allow for growth. I didn't do that at first and had to redo allot of pages. I found that the more photos I had the more calls I got, brides want to see your work. Plan your site before you start.

Homestead is so simple you can make changes in seconds. Also with the business site "silver" you can create free sites too. I have created 6 sites for friends & family for free, and 1 other full pay site. The only catch is the free sites have homestead in the title, but that is only for the free sites.

If you want to try it the first month is free, then start out for 5 per month. Homestead should pay me a commission! Feel free to ask questions.... I had to figure it all out on my own but it's very rewarding.
