Can someone tell me what it means when someone responds and it just says "Bump" in their reply?
It's what we do to get a post back up to the "top" of the list, because when there's a new post it gets moved back up.
bump allows the post to stay up on top so that other people could respond if that person doesn't know the answer.
Since you brought it up... It's actually a huge pet-peeve of mine.
Please don't bump
It's unnecessary, it clogs the forum with useless posts and most likely it's going to get deleted anyway
The best thing to do is post a quick reply. For example
instead of typing 'bump' and making that your entire post...
Say something, like 'anyone else have an idea?'
Or something to that effect....It's short, its sweet, it accomplishes what you want... bumping the thread to the most recent and it actually adds something to the conversation.
This isn't a rule, just a request from me to help me keep my sanity while moderating the forum and trying to keep it organized for everyone.
Thank you Jackie... it's really been getting on my nerves a lot lately! It seems like there are some people who are constantly bumping with just the word bump. It's really annoying and most of the time the post that is being bumped is only a few minuits old.
I am guilty of this when checking unanswered posts and don't have the answer etc. I will make an effort to put a note in the posts. Sorry!

And how do you feel about "Save"?
I'm guilty
I thought I was helping - sorry, I won't do it anymore.
See why I don't want to hang out with you troublemakers?
I was going to ask the same thing about "save". Does it really save the post or forum topic, or is it just an aknowledgement of "save"??? If it doesnt save it, why type it?? Just Curious...
But we're fun
I use to only look at the main page at threads it's only been recently that I go to forums and look at threads I've missed.

I use to do this too, but then I found the "View Post since last visit" button at the top of the forums page near the right hands side. I LOVE this feature. I dont' miss out on anything from the last time I was on now.

I thought I was the only one that "Bump" and "Save" was getting on my nerves, i have gotten to the point that I most likely will not answer a post that this has in it expecially if it is a recent post in the last hour or so. (personel opinion, you can shoot me later)
As for what the "save" does? Because you posted in the topic it will then be under your "my topics posted in" and you can search for the topic later. Personally, I have to many post so I use the "Watch this topic" at the bottom of the page. I don't have to get emails, but it is quick and easy reference for a good topic I want to refer back to.
And how do you feel about "Save"?
"Save" is also unecessary. You can save a topic at any point in time without actually making a post to it.
At the bottom of every thread there is a link "Watch This Topic"
or if you are already watching it, "Stop Watching This Topic"
Then to view all the posts you have "Saved" or are "watching"
click "Watched Topics"
From the top.
I hate when you get an email saying there is a new message in a topic you are interested in and you go there and its just a bump or save. For some reason, I get a new email EVERYTIME there is a new post in that forum, though the email says "You will not recieve any more emails until..." Does this happen to anyone else?

Well, I gotta figure out how to beat myself first. I use them! I just hate getting the emails about them. One saying "your topic has been updated" is cool, but I get one for every little post so thats when the bumps and saves get annoying.
I bump, cause I like bump, why do I need to type "anyone have any more ideas?" when you know why I'm bumping?
I "SAVE" instead of watch this topic so that when I go through my watched topics later I know I was saving it for later, and its not a current conversation. I'm sorry but 3 months later I'll have no idea why I was watching at topic called "Please look at this..." If I see SAVE, I know there was a recipe or idea or ? that I wanted to remember, if its more than that its a current topic. My "WATCHED TOPICS" list is too long and not detailed or organized enough to do this with.

Why not just print out the post/s that interested you in threads that you would normally "watch" or "save".
Seeing "save" is just as annoying to some of us as getting unwanted watched topic emails is to you.
Now for something entirely different.
Here's another, Stop "SAVE" thread:

Not to beat the dead horse, but isn't having a small "quick reply" the same as bumping someone? I mean you aren't contributing anything.. and it's a fluff post just like saying "bump" would be. Honestly.. people will complain about that too. It'll be "can we stop with the 'Anyone else?' posts?".
