You can order and then pick it up from Gordon Food Service (GFS) if you have one in your area:
GFS Store Locator:

Ordering Online:

The Bakers Kitchen has very reasonable shipping for 50# - approximately $14.00
Also a lot of decorating shops sell hi-ratio shortening in 3# containers, or can order 50# but they tend to be pretty pricey.

Gordon Food Services (GFS) is where I got mine. It's a special order item so you'll need to have a manager order it for you. The item # is 1080220. It comes in a 50# box and at the time I bought it last summer, it was priced at $61.99. Hope this helps.
What is Hi-Ratio Shortening:
(Sweetex or Alpine)

I just purchased it from Gordon Food Service in Rockford. I think it took about 2-3 weeks to get it once it was ordered. It was around $57.00 for 50lbs. I asked Sam's club about ordering it. The bakery manager at Sam's club said he would get back to me. This is now 4-5 weeks ago and still no phone call. GFS has good service.
