I have a key lime pie recipe that calls for key lime juice. Any idea what this is or where is can be bought. I've tried all the local grocery stores and had no luck.

Occasionally I can find it with the spices and baking supplies at the grocery store. Way on the bottom shelf near the chocolate chips... it's like they hide it on purpose!

key lime juice is juice from key limes.

key limes are smaller tha persian limes and have seeds. you can ask at your super market for them. they are more popular in fl.

If you can avoid it don't buy the bottle stuff............
Look for key limes in the produce section where all the other citrus fruits are. Good luck!

If you have a Trader Joe's store in your area they carry a bottled Key Lime juice that is excellent. Made with real Key Limes from Florida.

My grocery store carries the juice. It's in the juice aisle with the lemon and lime juices. I use Nellie & Joe's Famous Key West Lime Juice. And I always use the recipe on the back of their bottle for Key Lime Pie. Here's their website, www.keylimejuice.com or call 1-800-lime-pie. Hope you find some, it's wickedly good!!!!

Use Nellie & Joe's - found on the baking aisle of most grocery stores (here at least) - if you want to use bottled. You can also order it from their web site, but check the stores first... I spent a LOT more than I needed to on my first bottle! And I actually prefer the bottled - I get a more consistent outcome (and then I can use a persian lime for zest, becaust it's darker and prettier for decorations).

As noted by kgjam22, key limes are smaller and do have seeds, and they're also a lot lighter in color than Persian limes. Most importantly, the flavor is much more tart and distinctive, so you can't really substitute with any other variety.

You mean you guys don't have this stuff in every grocery store, it is like a staple in these parts I always have some in my fridge! I love Key Lime Pies, I am a native floridian if you couldn't tell, but seriously check on the juice aisle that is where they keep at the stores around here.

If you can't find it in the baking section or by the lemon juice look where the drink mixers are. you know where the onions, olives, grenadine syrup, and mixers are. thats where i find it at my store.
yum..... key lime pies. Thats our summer treat. I can hardly wait.
