Hello cookie makers!
The consensus seems to be FLOWERS for May's Theme
Just to refresh your memory, here are the "guidelines" for the cookie club posts (from Cake_Princess' original post):
* the group decided that all pictures must be new pictures (and new cookies). Meaning if you have a previous group of cookies already in your album (or in the forum) even if it depicts the theme you cannot use it. The idea of the monthly theme is to get our creative juices/new ideas flowing.
* Please do not post monthly theme cookies to your personal album or cookie Gallery until after the monthly theme has expired. The reason for this is, as a group we all decided each picture must be new and not previously uploaded to the Galleries. Seeing that we have no way of knowing when pictures were uploaded this will help to prevent any squabbles about people using previously uploaded pictures.
* You can use any medium to decorate your cookies. Fondant, royal icing, buttercream etc. The only stipulation is it has to be a medium used in cookie or cake decorating. So no play doh!!
* Please post pictures in this thread (Do not create a separate thread for your pics). Maximum of 3 pictures per person. You may however use graphics programs to create ONE collage of different pics/angles.
* In your post please let us know which medium you used to decorate your Cookies. Also, if you could please let us know why you chose the design you did if the reason is not obvious. (For Example if the theme was Music and you made ghost cookies then let us know the connection. Ghost = Phantom and Phantom of the opera relates to music).
Have fun being creative.
Look forward to seeing aleveryones cookies!!!!

I know I need ALOT more practice, especially on outlining. These are no fail sugar with Alice's cookie icing. I only made 1/2 batch so I could see if I was going to be able to do this and I ran out of icing, so the embroidery is in regular buttercream. There have been questions about this icing getting hard enough. I found it got hard enough to stack, but not to manhandle. Thanks for looking.
WOW newcakelady! Those look beautiful!! I love that embroidery look. Really great. To pretty to eat for sure.

Wow, newcakelady, those are gorgeous!
You did a beautiful job! They would be beautiful for Mother's Day.
Here are my cookies for May, I made them for a March of Dimes silent auction at a local racehorse magazine here in town. So everyone cross your fingers for high bids and orders!!! There is only one flower in my bunch but it is the most important flower to us Kentucky'ins on the first Saturday in May!!!
Those are awesome cookies Brendansmum! I love the horse head. The detail is great. Makes me want to whip up a mint julep!! Good luck on the auction. Great work!!

newcakelady- I love your cookies. The embroidery look is really pretty on them. They would make a good Mothers Day surprise for someone.
brendansmum- I love the rose that is included with your cookies. I like the other designs too they look really good.
I know this is a touchy subject so I am going to ask opinions first... My son's last day of pre-school was today so I made the teacher a cookie bouquet of 12 red roses. I confess I am a better copier than designer so I tried my best to copy the beautiful ones from cookiesbydesign.com. My question is - is it proper to acknowledge the site upfront and post my pic to this thread or should I keep them to myself since it is a copy and not origional???
You know on further thought I think I will not post them. Actually, I was only thinking of it from you guys perspective, forgot to think what cookiesbydesign.com might think. OOPS! Well let me say it is a GREAT site with beautiful cookie bouquets. If you haven't checked them out I recommend it. Sorry for the indecision.
Kimberly
Post them, NEWTODECORATING .
We are all learning how to master ( ) cookie decorating by trying new techniques etc. Most of us learn by example. Besides, you're not selling the cookies, right? Post them.....post them....post them..... (is it working?)
kos
You should definately post them!! You already gave kudos to where you got the idea, so let's see 'em!!
I agree..post them. You are not advertising them for us to buy...just to insprire us all.
Newcakelady..love the flowers.....did they take long to do all the paint brush work?
Brendansmum Great cookies! I love the nice clean lines and the theme is great!
Julia
Thanks acookieobsession!! It did not take long at all. I actually did that because I had to do something to cover up my horrible outlining!!
Theresa
Those cookie are great! I started looking for the new Cookie club MAY edition. Glad I remembered. Its easy to loose track when gardening season hits. Keep up the good work I still havent gotten my camera working
Zamode, Thanks for asking how I am doing? I am going to try out my flower cookies for this month tomorrow. I am making up some more royal icing and see how that works and am going to try mmf again then outline them with royal. Hopefully they will come out okay. I keep trying to make them look nice and the boys keep trying to eat them. Also wanted to ask, can the no fail recipe be made into chocolate dough? I though I read on here somewhere to sub some of the flour for chocolate but cannot find it.
there is a great chocolate cut-out coookie dough recipe on www.kitchengifts.com - where the no-fail one came from.
It's yummy!
Crafts, I use the kitchencrafts recipe that bonnie posted the link to--it is good, tastes very good with the Alice's or Antonia's icings. I think the substitution with the No-Fails was omit 1/2 cup of flour and use cocoa instead.
Take your time with the cookies....I'm definitely still learning--hence the cookie strike! --I think it has alot to do with experience but work on getting the icing the right consistency first.
How old are your little ones? If you can, try to do it when they are at school/naptime or in bed. It will give you more time and you won't feel hurried or get interrupted. Keep going, I am sure you're doing great.
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I am going to work on the icing and see what happens. I guess it is like cakes and just comes with a lot of practice. The only way to work without little ones is at night. I homeschool three boys, 15,11, and 8. So they are always here with me. I will just have to let them know that it is just like when I am doing a cake they have to go play and let me work. I am going to go write that recipe down and see how it comes out. Thanks to you and bonniebakes for helping me. Will try to post pics by the end of the week, have to see how it goes around here.
OK guys and gals, When I posted my original question as to if I should post these or not there had been 328 views to this post. There has now been over 600, no one has said no don't do it and I have had 3 people say yes and to tell you the truth IT'S KILLING ME!!!! I am pretty proud of these since it is my fourth attempt and I did them without a cookie cutter. They are a outright copy of a cookie I saw on cookiesbydesign.com. It is a wonderful site and if you haven't checked them out you should. My cookie is not even in the ballpark of theirs but I just had to try it. I hope to get better at designing my own stuff (I can't even draw a decent stick man) Please forgive me if my copying or posting these upsets the cookie cart!
Kimberly
Kimberly they are wonderful!!! No offense taken here!! I am impressed. Especially with no cookie cutter. Wonderful job!!
I cannot believe those are cookies!!! That vase with the cookies picture ought to be in an art exhibition.
Not kidding , it looks like a painting. Wonderful work!!!
Oh Yippee NEWTODECORATING!!! You get the cookie crown for the month I think!!
These are a breath of fresh air! I'm glad you decided to post. You really have done a superb job!!
Wow, really great, that's all I can say!

While scanning through a cookie theme forum a week or so ago, I saw someone had a picture of gardening glove cookies. I cann't seem to find them again and tried a search with no luck. It might have been in the April cookie theme forum. Does anyone know who this was?? Or where I can find the picture again??
Kos did those wonderful cookies! Here is the link...
