Help! Cake Overcooked And Don't Have Time To Make Another
Decorating By Susecita Updated 22 Mar 2006 , 1:55pm by Susecita
The sides and the top are a bit too hard. I tasted the cake yesterday and it's delish. It seems to be moist in the inside still just the top and the sides crusted quite a bit. I know I can level the top off but what should I do with the sides? Will the frosting hide this imperfection? I was thinking that maybe the frosting and the filling would hide this one....Suggestions are welcomed. The cake is dry already so I can't add syrup and because of the crust I don't think it would take it anyways. Ugh!

If I were you I would just cut off the sides as well.

Cut the sides of one of the layers and problem solved. This cake is actually just for show so not as important whether or not it's a bit hard. I also tasted the crusted part with frosting and it still tastes great. Thanks! Baking now cake for sister. Jeeeesh.
