I'm making a "still in hibernation" garden shed cake, with a setting filled with idle tools and wheelbarrow, empty pots, a "closed 4 the season" sign in the birdbath, a bare trellis, etc. The shed-cake itself will be covered in fondant "clapboards," and I want a window on one side to dress it up. With such a full setting, I don't want the shed-cake to be too, too plain by comparison.

I had thought of using sheet gelatin for the "window glass," but I don't know how to fix it to the fondant. (I'll paint an "inside scene" to go under the gelatine, and I'll frame it with thin strips of fondant "wood.")

Does anyone have any experience with sheet gelatin...or even better, sheet gelatin over fondant?

Please...I need some advice.

Use royal icing and attach it on the inside like they do with gingerbread houses.
