I'm planning on using RBC on NFSC and then putting an edible image on top. Has anyone done this successfully? I've just made about 1/3 - 1/2 of my cookie dough/cookies and they're not bad, though I'm not too crazy about the texture of the dough. It's the first time I've used this recipe (from CC).

Also, I've never made RBC before nor have I ever printed an edible image before (I have my printer and edible ink and icing sheets all set, but haven't done it yet). This will be my first time using the printer on icing sheets as I've only tested it once on paper.

Do you think the surface of the cookies will smear at all? I figure they need time to "dry out"/set up a bit, but I'm still concerned. I'm making a few dozen to donate to a fund raiser for this Friday evening.

TIA

I'm not baking any more tonight. Too tired. But I'd like to work on these first thing tomorrow.

Idoweddingcookies, maybe if you asked this question in a new post there'd be an answer. For some reason whenever I post a question I have to beg for an answer and it usually takes days.

When I make cookies with edible images. I put the fondant on after they come out of the oven, the warmth helps it stick to the cookie. I immediately put the image on after that. Sometimes you have to wipe the cookie with just a tad of extract or something to get the image to stick. I would give them ample time to dry so they don't stick to the bag. I am working on 10 cookie bouquets today, but I am using RI and edible images.

Do the edible images "blend" with the fondant like with b/c? I'm wanting to send cookies to my grandchildren with their pictures on them. I think they would get a big kick out of it.

You have to "wet" the fondant so it will stick, but it will blend.

Thanks so much for your response, Momof4!

One other question, if I may. Do you find that if you stack the cookies, let's say in a tin or box, that the iced front with image either sticks to or gets smeared by the back of of another cookie?

I let all my cookies dry on the cookie sheet for about 24 hours and I don't get that problem.

Thank you for the info. Checked out you're website.. very nice. I was lucky enough to go on a 2 month USA tour and visited your lovely state. Enjoyed our time there.

just another alternative, I use a very thin coat of piping gel on the fondant I am attaching the edible image to, works great for me. I've also not had issues with smudging or bleeding to date, even attached some images late last night and shipped this afternoon. I do know some cake decorators have had issues but I allow my fondant to totally dry prior which I believe does help with the image not deteriorating.
