i do not make a whole lot of cookie's so i do not know alot of recipes. i love chocolate chip, however i am needing something that will bake flat to decorate. i made the NFSC, but i dont care for them. they are not sweet enough. seems like they needed more sugar? maybe if i added more vanilla it would of helped...?
anyway, i am wanting a different type of cookie recipe than a sugar cookie. i have a ginger cookie receipe. can anyone tell me a type of cookie that would bake flat, that would be nice to decorate on top of?
maybe i could crush my morsels before adding them into the dough for chocolate chip. just thought about that?? icon_rolleyes.gif
still though, if anyonw would like to share a recipe or a type of could i would be so grateful.

Chocolate Chip use to be the only cookie I made and decorated until I found the recipe here for NFSC. I never had any trouble with decorating the Chocolate chip with RI although I prefer the MMF. I still make and decorate the Chocolate chip cookies the most.

I believe the trouble you might be speaking of with the cChip are the ridges (bumps) that stick out of the cookie? If so, what I do with the chocolate chip (bumps in cookies) is once they come out of the oven I gently press the chip into the cookie while it is warm. I get a smoother top.

hope it helps.

What about turning the cookie over and decorating the bottom? I think I have heard of people doing that. This way you still get delicious chocolate chip cookies AND a completely flat surface to decorate.

That's what we do. Very very smooth surface for icing. Works great.

For a different sugar cookie recipe you might want to try Penny's Sugar Cookies, I personally like the recipe better than NFSC.

If you go to the forum here under Penny's vs NFSC, Penny's recipe is printed there.

Penny has her own bakery business in Texas and the recipe does not have to be refrigerated before rolling out the dough, tastes great also.

Hope this helps.

ok, thanks everyone. i thought about doing the backs of the cookie but wasnt sure how it would look with the hump (cookie front) sticking out the back. never thought about mashing in the chocolate after it baked. guess i was trying to make it harder than what it should be icon_lol.gif i will take a look at pennys sugar cookie recipe also.
thanks everyone
