I saw a 20" for $2,940...that's not much of a difference. I'll give you a bump. Maybe someone else knows better. icon_smile.gif

Buy the sheeter!!!! It's worth every penny. You won't find used because no one will give their's up once they have it. Make sure it is made specially for Fondant. I love my Sommerset. Fabulous for rolling thin gumpaste and white chocolate.

We have the 20" Somerset. We were lucky enough to find it used locally for $1900. It's definitely worth having but it does take some getting used to. I have seen them on ebay from time to time for $1500 or so. It doesn't save as much time as you might think because it's not like you can throw a big ball of fondant on it and it magically makes it 1/4" thick but in the past year we have owned it it has definitely proven to be invaluable.

We are also huge fans of your work Carrie and have been for years! Great to see you at CC!!

Can a sheeter like this handle a heavy cookie dough like gingerbread or cold sugar cookie?

you wouldn't want to spend the extra money if thats all you want it for...cookie dough
Also these machines don't sheet out onto a flat surface.

Beautiful website and gorgeous cakes Carrie. Have any of you tried the fondant sheets pre-made that you press together for larger cakes? I know owning a sheeter this wouldn't be necessary, but I saw some online and wondered about the taste and quality of the fondant.

http://www.decopac.com/catalog/dsp_results.cfm?s_searchthis=671&r=6&x=11&y=10

Click on the additional info. and then "Open File" to see instructions for pressing sheets together.

It doesn't even tell you what size they are! If it was easy we could just fuse sheets from our pasta makers. I'm dubious about how effective this is. Has anyone tried it?

Say what!! my pasta maker is only 6" wide it would take alot of fusing to cover a big cake. icon_razz.gif

Do the sheets work as well as just rolling it out? Carrie is that what you use all the time for your beautiful cakes?
