synopsis -

I was 11 she was 6, her family and mine were friends since before we were born. They visited one year and I thought nothing of her because there were lots more things more interesting to me at that time, than girls.

Eventually I wised up, and when we finally were smart enough we got together and have been together since. We've known each other for 28 1/2 years now, with no end in sight.

She doesn't care for sweets much, and she hates roses. Sunflowers were special to us (20+ years ago), WAY before they were popular. So she gets those instead.

Which reminds me, Valentines Day isn't anything special for us. It's just another day. As sappy as it sounds if you can't give chocolates, (which is hard for me to do, considering it's my business) or flowers on any other day, then why do it just once a year?

Was out shooting pool at the local pub with my best friend. Hubby-to-be was there shooting pool with a friend of his. As he walked by, my friend, who was sitting in a chair, leaned over to pinch his butt, and proceeded to fall off her chair! LOL Needless to say, I "fell" for him too.

I was introduced to dh by his SIL who I worked with. Funny thing is my dad and his mother lived beside each other when they were kids then after they both were married, lived across the road from each other for a while. The city I lived in was small but not that small LOL(about 40,000 people!). I try to tell dh it was fate but he just thinks it was lust at first sight!!!!!!!!!!!!

I live in the twin cities. which just means they are side by side but that is what they call them, "The Twin Cities" anyway, i was living in one city and was "going with" this guy who happened to move to the other city and moved in to some apartments. One day I was talking to him on the phone and I heard this voice say "who are you talking to?" it was my future DH. anyway later I broke up with this guy and I was friends with dh. we talked on the phone for a while then he wanted to meet me. so we met up at the dollar movies. He was beautiful, oh sorry handsome. we "went together" for one month. you see I was 12 years old and he was 15. Then we stayed friends for 6 years and when I turned 18 I just saw more than a friend in him and I fell in love. we started dating, and a year and a half later we got married. We were married 8 years last October. We have known each other 16 years this March. And he is still beautiful, uh handsome. icon_wink.gif

Oh, I love these stories! In a round about way I worked with a girl who was engaged to the best friend of dh. He asked her if she knew any nice girls (actually I think he was complaining about some of the recent dates he'd had) and for some reason she thought of me icon_lol.gif . She told him that I was a little older (4.5 years) and he said he didn't care as long as I was cute! She left a note on my door at work telling me all about him and I gave her my # thinking she would call me so i could get more info and to my suprise she gave it to him. We talked on the phone a couple of times, decided to go out and the rest is history. We'll be married 4 years this May and together 8 this June.

ps-the funniest thing is he asked her what she told me and she said "I told her you were fairly attractive" and what he heard was "barley attractive" I still tease him about how "barley attractive" he is!

I met my husband at a party, he was drinking and a bit on the happy side. He actually came up to where I was sitting and sat down on my lap and told me he was going to marry me. I told him that he was a nut and that I didn't mess with older men especially one that drank. He didn't give up and kept after me until I gave in and agreed to go out with him (figured it was the only way to get rid of him). He turned out to be a really great guy and we dated two years before we got married. He actually graduated from high school the same year I started jr high. We will be married 41 yrs this summer.

Geometry class 1990/1. icon_smile.gif He was a junior and I was a sophmore. Needless to say, I'm not real good at geometry!! First it was a little chidding and our relationship was on the rocks a few times, but now we've been married for 4 1/2 years, living together (own house) for 8 1/2 years and been together for the better part of 15 years. I think the test of a relationship is going on vacation together where you do everything together and still come home friends.

What sweet stories!

I got a job at a movie theater, and met another worker, who later became my DH! We started dating a few months later, and a few years later, got married. Just celebrated our 13th anniversary!

Funny thing is, my brother met his wife at the SAME movie theater! They both worked there several years before DH and I did! They've been married 16 years!

A year after I moved to California from Georgia I was online in a chat program called mIRC in channel "California". I had just recently broken up with my boyfriend that was younger than myself. Heck all the guys I dated were younger than me because I look like such a kid. Anyways, I was tired of dating guys younger than me and decided I would no longer go out with anyone younger. Well this day that I was chatting I got a PM from a person that called himself "Robert19". I knew EXACTLY what that "19" meant. I "X'd" it away and a few seconds later it came back. So I "X'd" it away again. I did this several times until I just gave up and decided I would "just talk" to him. We chatted online for a long while and exchanged pictures. I seriously thought that the picture that he sent to me was one that he found on the internet because he was just too handsome to be real. Anyways, he had just moved to California with his family from Washington and he didn't know anyone. I told him that if he ever wanted someone to talk to as a friend I would be there for him. Need less to say we met in person the very next day and have been together ever since. We dated for 4 years and have been married for 5 years.

Sorry so long,
Lazy_Susan icon_wink.gif

PS... He is the spitting image of Elvis!!! He hates it when I tell him that because his family has always teased him about that!! LOL

My husband was my next door neighbor!

I was renting a townhouse with a friend of mine. He was renting the townhouse right next door with a friend of his. We met the day we moved in. He came over to let us know that he was next door, should we ever need anything (yep, he's a slick one - checking us out, more like!) But after that we didn't even speak to each other for a about a year. Then we went out on one date and I knew he was the one. We've been married 6 1/2 years and we got engaged on Valentine's Day!

My dad put my phone number on the back of one of his business cards and said here call my daughter I know she will like you.

We had known each other in High School but, moved back to our home town years later four months apart.

It took him three months to call me. After he called me, we went on our first date and we were married six months and three days later!

Wow i just love these stories!!!
DH and I met at university. He saw me in a class that we both ended up dropping out of, he saw my name on my pencil case, did a bit of research and sent me an email. We emailed eachother for a few weeks and then decided to meet. I wasn't interested in being in a relationship, yet, we have been together for 7 years this April and married 6 years this February.

PS: The most amazing thing is that we live in Melbourne Australia, he was born in Bangkok Thailand, and i was born in Montevideo Uruguay. What are the chances?? we had to travel sooooo far to meet : )

I was getting out of a really bad relationship and wanted a new start. I transfered to a new department at work. DH was the wonderful person who was training me for my new job. He purposedly stalled on my training so we could work more together. The funniest thing is I knew my FIL since I was about 8yrs old. DH was still living in NY at the time when He moved down here his father was trying to talk my mother into setting us up and she did not want to get involved. You have to get the idea we all worked for a bank. Me, DH, mother, sister, sisters DH, FIL, SIL, BIL, and DH Uncle we all worked for the same bank and most of us in the same department just diferent shifts. I tell everyone that I knew my Inlaws years before I ever met my hubby.

These stories are great!!!

All I can say is... It's amazing what you can get at Wal-Mart. LOL

I was working at Wal-Mart when I was 19 and DH came in browsing one night. I happened to be a bit dressy that day and flirty. Anyway, he came up and started talking to me and we carried on a conversation for quite a while (I almost got in trouble). I remember thinking that he was a dork, but I gave him my # anyway cause I was looking for a change from messing around with a coworker. We went out 2 days later and on that date I knew that we would be married. We've been together almost 11 years and married for 7 1/2.

Match.com!
Although we figure we would have probably met in some capacity sooner or later....that's how it works with soul mates. We had only had a few dates when we found out that my one girlfriend from work hung out regularly with him, his sister, and their group of friends! Too weird. Later on, we also discovered that his best friend's ex-wife and I were friends in high school. We grew up about ten miles from each other, but ended up meeting in our mid-30's online. Spooky! Fate works in strange ways.

OK...mine's a long and winding road...

My DH's father was the lanlord and friend of my brother's Godfather. We are Greek and celebrate namedays and the Godfather's name was celebrated on Christmas day. Both of our families went to this man's house each year when we were small children, but we never really knew eachother.

My aunt has a summer house on Long Island, right down the road from my DH's summer house. When we visited, both families frequented the same beach, but we never really knew eachother.

As teenagers, my DH played basketball for his church who played against my church, of which I was a cheerleader, but we never really knew eachother.

In college, my DH was a member of GOYA (Greek Orthodox Young Adults) and was in charge of many parties that I attended with my friends, but we never really knew eachother.

I attended the wedding of the daughter of my brother's Godfather with my family. So did my DH and his family.

In my 20's, I slept over my aunt's house in Long Island often in the summers. My cousin and I would walk past my DH's house and she explained to me that there was a girl and a guy living there (My SIL and my DH), but they didn't really know eachother.

One Saturday night in Long Island, my cousins and I went to the only club in the town. She had met the girl from the house (my SIL) who was with her brother (DH) and friends. Our parties mingled....and......we got to know eachother! He took me on his boat the next day. He called me Monday, we went out Tuesday....this year will be our 10th wedding anniversary.

Dh and i worked together and became very good friends for almost 5 yrs he moved to a differnet state for a while and i to a different city. One day we after he moved back home and i was visting my grandparents we bumped into each other and have been together almost 7yrs married for almost 4yrs. Now my grandpa says he use to have family that lived by us went i was little and we would play together for hour but i don't remeber.

I KNOW BORING...... But i have to share this one I asked my grandpa how he meet grandma the other day and this was the story.................

He is from the Bay City area and was home on leave from the army. Grandma left her very small country farm in search of the city life.
So the story goes he was walking by the bus stop looking at this pretty lady who was facing the other way he wanted to stop and say Hi but was to shy. Well him and a group of soilders walked pass when he heard someone screeem BILL and next thing he knew this pretty lady was givng him a hug (grandpas name is Julius). Well my grandma just seen him from the side and thought it was her brother (Bill) whom she was waiting for. So grandpa offered to buy her a cup of coffee and they talked and went their seperate ways. A few days later we went to a get a burger and just so happen grandma was the waitress. When she brought his order there was no burger in the bun....lol That was 47 years ago..

I like grandpas story much better then mine!!!!!!!

Remember when AOL was new and exciting? They had personal ads, Love@aol, and I posted an ad. I got lots of responses, and let me just say that there are some very s-t-r-a-n-g-e people out there. Anyways, long story short, DH responded & I answered him. We lived about 70 miles from each other. We emailed and talked on the phone for a couple of weeks, then met in person for dinner in a town half way between our cities. I knew when I walked into the restaurant and saw him sitting there that my search for Mr. Right was over. That was back in '97, and we've been together ever since. This past December 6th was the 8 year anniversary of our first date, and in May we'll celebrate our 7 yr wedding anniversary.
