Whew! It worked!
A great big giant THANK YOU! To everybody who helped me with this cake!
I don't think I could have done it without all the help from you guys.
Here is the cake that has been driving me crazy the last few day. The things I put myself through for a friend!
Besides the little blip when I tried to take the parchment off the first time, this came out beautifully!
I'm so pleased!
I mean, it's not perfect, I have to work on making sure the frosting fills the entire space and doesn't leave little gaps, and my borders leave something to be desired, I'm pretty darned happy. It looks like Kiki!
(kiki is the poinging ferret, she's a character from my friend and mine's favorite web comic. www.sluggy.com, and my friend's nickname)
Here is the original picture, and my cake for comparison!
Great job, I have to say I have been doing gel transfers for years, did my FBCT last weekend, for my grandson, Ihaven't posted it yet but it was so much nicer than the gel.
Awesome job! I've become totally addicted to the FBT technique since I learned out to do them last year. REALLy cuts down on decorating time IMO. And I can do those on the coffee table watching TV. Can't decorate a cake out there though.
Alien I am sooo glad it worked out for you! And you did a great job to boot! I have been wondering this evening if the paper was giving you anymore trouble, I see that it didn't and I can't wait to see the next FBCT!!
Great job on your FBCT! I wouldn't have known it was your first. I've been wanting to try this. I need to try on a practice cake. I'm so afraid of trying this for the first time when the cake is for someone, in case I screw it up. Everyone makes it sound so easy though.
I really like the look of your border. Very pretty.
She loved it. She said she didn't want to cut it and ruin the decorations!!
I'm so happy!
And it tasted good too! (once I convinced her it would be ok to cut it!)
I'm not sure, I used the crusting buttercream recipe from this site.
