Hi All!

I've noticed that some people really put in some effort when it comes to displaying their cake images here and I love those. I'm wondering what software programs you all use for that. I've just been taking pics and popping them up. Not typical for a web designer. LOL! But I think from now on, I'll pretty them up a bit so they can be used as a portfolio.

Just curious how you all use the pics and what you use to edit them. Do you keep an album for prospective clients to view?

Some where on here someone gave a link to a free download software.. I can't remember where the forum is at but it is called PhotoFiltre.. I downloaded it and this is what I can do.. You have to fiddle with it to understand it, but if you can cut, copy and edit. You can figure this out.. Hope someone sees this and can give you the link.

Those are neat, but in all honesty, the best thing to do for photos I learned from vik at outside the box. She took the veil of her wedding dress and used it as a backdrop and took pictures at interesting angles of her cakes. She may have lightened or darkened the photos, but the cakes really stood out. That is what I've been doing. I just have some white tulle I use, and I've been taking the photos in front of my pink wall in my pink kitchen with the tulle. It seems to look really nice and goes with my website. I like the background shown here, but the cake may get lost in it.

I have been using photoshop. I try not to edit them to much because sometimes it can destract from the cake. Here is one that I really tinkered with because I thought the foil board looked awful.

(hey can i get an honest opnion from you all , does it look to photoshoped? Before.....and after)

I really like to use my corel to get closeups and different angles of my stuff. Tried different backgrounds and i think most of them are disasters. and make the cake actually look worse than it would be without a background. But maybe one day i will come up with a good one icon_lol.gif

Caribou; I use MGI PhotoSuite for some of mine. They have cropping, sizing, framing, edging, etc. to embelish your photos with.
Our son purchased the Microsoft Digital Imaging software for us to use, now he just has to get it to us and I can't wait!

it doesn't look chopped if that's what you mean. I like the photoshopped picture better, I think it brings the cake to the forefront instead of the blinding foil. BTW Great cake! Very cute! icon_razz.gif

I use photoshop to edit my pictures. I used to have a webpage with a black background so i used to take all my pictures on a black piece of material, since then the colours have changed and so i now set up an area where i put a fawn coloured sheet, i peg it up on the curtains on each side of the wall, so the area is completely covered and my background is going to be constant. I then use Photoshop to make a round border around the cake that i then blend in to the colour that i've used as the background for my picture. Here are before and after shots.

This is the forum with the download information. It is a good program I have downloaded but not have not had any cakes since I downloaded the software. I have one this weekend and am looking forward to using it then.

I use Photofiltre too but not on my cake pics. I do like the creative way some people have done that though. Some of them look like pics right out of a catalog or portfolio. I use it to create edible images, animated gifs and other graphics.

I use Photoshop also. I've used it just to dress up some of my pics, to show multiple views of a cake, and for a few of them, I've printed them out on glossy cardstock and used them like a promo postcard with my info on the back. I keep a 4x6 bragbook of my cakes in my purse, and I like to have the postcards in there, so if someone sees something they like, I give them one to take home.

Does anybody know where Vik and outsideofthebox.ca went? Hope somebody can help, as I would really like to see the website.
