I found a recipe for this cake in the book Classic Home Desserts. Has anyone made a 1-2-3-4 cake? How is it? I hate to make it, if it isn't that great.

it's a classic recipe... i haven't really paid too much attention to my measuring, but I know the numbers mean as to how many flour, sugar eggs and butter there is... It makes it easy for you to remember a recipe.

ok I just googled it... 1 c butter, 2 c sugar, 3 c flour and 4 eggs... I know a niece of mine had made this recipe (Paula Deen's recipe) and so did my mother-in-law in one of her cookbooks.

The funny part is all the stuff that is left out.

1234 Cake

# 1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine
# 2 cups white sugar
# 3 cups flour (all purpose)
# 3 teaspoons baking powder
# 1/2 teaspoon salt
# 4 eggs
# 1 cup milk
# 1 teaspoon vanilla or 1 teaspoon lemon flavoring

Maybe they need a new name for this cake. How about the Half Triple One Two Double Three Four Cake?
