Agree about Toba's BC -- in fact all of them -- she has a SMBC that is heaven, but her decorator's BC, with shortening, is also delicious. Plus, her "Moist Yellow Cake" is the scratch cake everyone is looking for. Delicious, moist, sturdy enough for torting and fondant. I use it almost exclusively because I can't get enough of it.

Yes, they keep on bringing the price down. I think Paris Cutler is coming out with a cupcakes book and that's why.

I got 5 of the Planet Cake books two weeks ago from Barnes & Noble at $5.99 each. An amazing bargain.

Does anyone have any thoughts on Toba Garrett's Well-Decorated Cake vs. her Professional Cake Decorating book? Is the latter worth the price (B&N online has former for $11 and latter for $39)? I can't find them locally to browse, so would have to order online. Thanks!

I downloaded Toba's professional cake book from 4shared and love it. I also have the well decorated cake and love that one as well.
Here is the link if you would like to download it yourself.

I'm not sure that link is a legal download, seeing as you can't actually purchase any of her books in eBook format. And since that link is a free download, I'm about 99% sure it's not legal.

I don't have many books so far, but several of the ones mentioned on are my "WANT!" list. icon_biggrin.gif I do have the planet cake book, and I recently picked up Bakerella's Cake Pops book (it's soooo pretty and fun!).

The Cake Pops book is really nice. I don't quite have the patients to do large batches of cake pops but they are cute.

I have both of Toba's books and The Professional Cake Decorating one is 353 pages of very detailed lessons to help you teach yourself at home, more of a training handbook. It is also hardcover.
Each chapter covers a new technique to master and has recipes and patterns in the back of her book. The Well Decorated Cake is softcover, and 176 pages. It has some patterns and recipes also.
